Let's keep this thread clear of a debate. If you personally (this means no "friend of a friend" posts) can not help bumrocks, don't comment. If any user comments after my post and the comment is not that user offering his/her help you will be infracted/banned.

Just look how many open source projects are out there! In any community (even here at T-I) looks of people dedicate their time and effort just to be a part of something.
Thing is, if you approach a well established tracker you probably couldn't get a staff position if you wanted one! I'm sure some would see this offer as an oppurtunity.
I am actually thinking about trying to learn PHP and MySQL, so I can donate some free time to a tracker. There is one Anime tracker I would really love to do some work for, if I knew the technology.

Yes, most coders hold down full time gigs where they make their money but many of them do open source projects and do lend a helping hand to certain projects for free.
I am a C#/VB.Net SQL Server/DB2 guy, so I wouldn't be able help. However, if I did know the technologies the OP mentioned and I thought the site had promise, I would help out when I had free time.Last edited by Guardian; February 4, 2011, 11:38 PM.

I am sorry if I was not clear. I was simply trying to fill a staff position or two at the site. I wasn't trying to hire people to come fix something.
I find it somewhat funny that you (twon) would even mention or suggest that I was trying to offer you or anyone an invite for help at a site. At no point did I offer anyone anything at all...I could go on about this bad statement, but i won't.
Anyways, I assumed that being that we were in a BT community and everything would be understood. I am simply seeing if any wants to help and become part of the staff team...A coder or two to be more specific. Hope that clears everything up.

I have lots of friends in high places 8 are coders 2 actually have there own sites (porn Trackers) i know you said you would not pay money, but in reality i don't feel conferrable asking them to do work for free. So in the future if yo decide that you will pay cash for the coders work let me know i'm sure i can get you the 2 you need.

The incentive is that you get to help out a tracker you enjoy. It's not like you have to do it as a full time job, put in some hours each week making the place better and it will earn you lots of respect and possibly a position on the tracker.

I mean no disrespect, but I'm sure there's someone that will do it for an invite, or for free. It's just my personal opinion.
personally, i get coding work via freelancing sites, and value my time at roughly $25/hour, which is pretty standard, or even low for some coders. i didn't expect tbh to offer cash to coders, but i was wondering what you do offer to make it worthwhile?
maybe i'm being naive, but i don't see why any half-decent coder would work for free, except perhaps to build up a portfolio, and a private tracker really can't be used in a portfolio.
