  • 1-2 Coders Needed!

Well, i was hoping to not have to do this, but since there appears to be quite a few of you in the forum here I figured there couldn't be a better place atm!

CN is in need of at least 1-2 coders. Simple as that. That are things to be done, changes to be made, and progress has been slower than I would like. There is nobody to blame for it. We just need more!

If you are not familiar with CN and were interested then I would ask that you start reading up on the site and at least join (:: Cosa Nostra - Apply for an invite ::) so that you can form an educated opinion. If you are familiar with CN then you already know what you are getting into, the features and potential.

According to the owner we need people who are skilled in these languages or areas...

    php/mysql
    Preferably tbdev
    and Linux

I don't need a full blown resume...Contact me if you think you are interested along with all pertinent information that might impress me or the owner. I am on the t-i irc channel if you have questions as well.

I am not sure by what you mean by helping out. If you mean cash, then no. Otherwise, clarify as to what you are referring to.

I'm not sure anyone is going to code what you need for free. Most of us coders either code our own projects for self enjoyment, or code others for pay. An invite to your tracker doesn't make me want to code for you.

I mean no disrespect, but I'm sure there's someone that will do it for an invite, or for free. It's just my personal opinion.

this is what i was referring to bumrocks.

personally, i get coding work via freelancing sites, and value my time at roughly $25/hour, which is pretty standard, or even low for some coders. i didn't expect tbh to offer cash to coders, but i was wondering what you do offer to make it worthwhile?

maybe i'm being naive, but i don't see why any half-decent coder would work for free, except perhaps to build up a portfolio, and a private tracker really can't be used in a portfolio.

The incentive is that you get to help out a tracker you enjoy. It's not like you have to do it as a full time job, put in some hours each week making the place better and it will earn you lots of respect and possibly a position on the tracker.

I have lots of friends in high places 8 are coders 2 actually have there own sites (porn Trackers) i know you said you would not pay money, but in reality i don't feel conferrable asking them to do work for free. So in the future if yo decide that you will pay cash for the coders work let me know i'm sure i can get you the 2 you need.

I would have to disagree with some of the comments regarding code for pay.

Yes, most coders hold down full time gigs where they make their money but many of them do open source projects and do lend a helping hand to certain projects for free.

I am a C#/VB.Net SQL Server/DB2 guy, so I wouldn't be able help. However, if I did know the technologies the OP mentioned and I thought the site had promise, I would help out when I had free time.

I am sorry if I was not clear. I was simply trying to fill a staff position or two at the site. I wasn't trying to hire people to come fix something.

I find it somewhat funny that you (twon) would even mention or suggest that I was trying to offer you or anyone an invite for help at a site. At no point did I offer anyone anything at all...I could go on about this bad statement, but i won't.

Anyways, I assumed that being that we were in a BT community and everything would be understood. I am simply seeing if any wants to help and become part of the staff team...A coder or two to be more specific. Hope that clears everything up.

I'm a member and if i knew how i would do it for free i have the time just don't have the knowledge, but you have to understand when you ask for help from other people sometimes you have to expect some type of fee not everyone works for free.

I disagree with comments about needing pay! I think there are plenty of coders out there that would volunteer their time to be able to join the staff and be a part of something.

Just look how many open source projects are out there! In any community (even here at T-I) looks of people dedicate their time and effort just to be a part of something.

Thing is, if you approach a well established tracker you probably couldn't get a staff position if you wanted one! I'm sure some would see this offer as an oppurtunity.

Agreed. I was just stating that even though there are developers out there that would want to get paid, there are some that would donate their time for free to a prestigious tracker or a project they personally believed in.

I agree with this. I have an open source project and I created it because it is something I believe in.

I am actually thinking about trying to learn PHP and MySQL, so I can donate some free time to a tracker. There is one Anime tracker I would really love to do some work for, if I knew the technology.

Let's keep this thread clear of a debate. If you personally (this means no "friend of a friend" posts) can not help bumrocks, don't comment. If any user comments after my post and the comment is not that user offering his/her help you will be infracted/banned.
