• Why to use so many trackers ?

so this is not almost dailly asked wuestion that how many trackers you use or etc !!
what my serious concern is that IPT has almost everything what i need. sometime for old torrents IPT has seeder while specialised trackers wont . so whats the need of maintaining so many tracker and good ratios !! i well i agree that there are around 1% of content which might not be there on IPT or TD but for that 1% of content do we really need 10-20 trackers ???

I think that because of our greed and sometimes we want to show off that i've access to these (bla, bla) trackers!
On the other hand, some persons are in search of decent content so they start roaming over the trackers.

I honestly don't care about the quantity of the trackers like I used to, if for example I could trade 30 trackers for 4 rare and good ones, I would do it. (manner of speech, not encouraging trading. :p)

I have been relatively active on all my trackers but now use three or four at best, as for the others I mainly wait for invitations to come so I can share them with interested people and only rarely use them to my personal use.

A good specialist TV tracker is better for TV shows than a general one, a good specialist music tracker is better than a general one for music etc etc.

What happens to you, your ratio if IPT gets busted and closes down. You have to start somewhere else again from scratch.

So I have multiple sites I share my seeding around. If BTN shuts (cries at the thought) I have TvT.ro, BitMeTv and did TVT.com whuch is gone, I can carry on doing what I enjoy without worrying about having to start from the beginning building a buffer, choosing my downloads carefully, not able to grab older content because it will trash my ratio.

Pretty much this. I tend to use one main tracker for each type of content (What, BTN, PTP, GazelleGames, Bibliotik) because specialist trackers do things better - they have more choice, better and more consistently high quality releases and better organisation than general trackers. Those are the main points, but not the only ones - other things include the fact that they tend to have more reasonable staff and a better community. The staff of IPT in particular, or at least the sysop, have been implicated in a lot of really crap stuff - making a profit from donations, fake raffles, DDoSing and stealing peers from other sites. For that reason alone it's a site I'll never use, not that I would use it anyway.

On top of this I have several backups, both for redundancy as Mr. Bond pointed out, and so I have invites to give away here to starting members - I would never give out invites to trackers that I actually use on a day-to-day basis here as it's too risky for my accounts.

pretty much what coal and Bond said. speaking of my own experience's with the torrent world, when i first started out, i wanted to get into all the trackers that i could.
then over time ive realized that i just dont DL that much anymore. im on some nice specialized trackers {tv, movies, etc}.....that i dont really use.
PTP is a great movie tracker, but i mostly watch english language movies, so general trackers are all i need. { if you like foriegn movies....PTP is for you}

pre-times and scene have never been important to me. as my torrent " life" has progressed, ive noticed that i mostly DL books.
i can live without tv, movie, and general trackers......but i must have my book trackers.
the amount of cash i have saved is mind blowing to me.

there is nothing like hearing about a new book.....visiting one of my book trackers....and minutes later having it on my reader......FOR FREE!!!
and....if i like the author....goin back a DL'in all of his or her works.....FOR FREE!!!
{ do i feel guilty about not paying for it??....nope.}

IPT has lots of stuff, sure, but its owners are assholes and there are many reasons to stay away from that site.

I think it's helpful to have a few sites that specialise in what you want- could be movies, TV shows, ebooks, etc. as well as a backup tracker for each of the categories in case your main tracker goes down.

It's only a problem if you're joining sites just for the sake of joining them and not really using them ever.

The reason why people have so many, i would think as some trackers ban material, while others don't. But again, certain hard to find stuff. Gotta hop around. However try to stay with a select bit as I always say.
