  • Microsoft Confirms New Mid-Range Surface 3 Model

Source : Softpedia Original Author : Bodgan Popa Post Date : 22 May 2015 Link in Softpedia : http://news.softpedia.com/news/Micro...l-481971.shtml

Microsoft is working to expand the Surface 3 tablet lineup with new models, and as we reported to you yesterday, a new mid-range configuration has already been spotted in Germany and is expected to go on sale very soon.

The company hasnít publicly acknowledged this new model, so most people thought that it was just a Surface 3 version specifically aimed at the German market, but in a statement provided to us this morning, Microsoft says that itís looking to tweak the Surface lineup to better address all needs. This could be a sign that the new Surface 3 model could go on sale in more markets, but also that the company is looking at some other versions for the coming months.

ďWe have a range of Surface options to fit varying needs. The 64GB Surface 3 with 4GB RAM is available to business customers through authorized commercial resellers and select retailers,Ē a Microsoft spokesperson told us in an official comment on the new model.

64 GB of storage space, 4 GB of RAM

This new Surface 3 model is specifically designed to be a mid-range offering for buyers, so it comes with 64 GB of storage space (also available on the entry-level version) and with 4 GB of RAM (offered on the top-of-the-range configuration).

Pricing for this model in Germany is Ä659 ($735), so it's more affordable than the top model, which in the country can be purchased for Ä779 ($865).
Other specs of this Surface 3 model remain unchanged, so you get the same 10.8-inch full HD screen, 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for the most affordable version, and 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in the most expensive configuration.

Microsoft hasnít yet confirmed whether this version will go on sale in the United States, but if sales in Europe go well, expect it to show up in Redmondís home market as well.
