If you have lots of folders and shortcut's
the Start menu, arrows appear as the Windows default Start menu keeps only one column. If you want to avoid dysfunctional arrows and turn your Start menu in multiple columns, do the following: Start \ Run \ Regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer. In the right pane create a Text Value with the name "StartMenuScrollPrograms" (without the quotes). Right click on the string you just created and select Modify in the Value Data box, type "false" (without the quotes). Click OK, turn Regedit, press F5 and that's it.
