Notification pop-ups for posts?

I was hoping to have a notification pop up instead of checking my settings every few minutes to see whether someone responded to my subscribed thread.

Aas far I can see there is no outward notification for subscribed threads at the top. I do check my I get around this by checking my profile first thing when I come to the site. If anyone else knows another way please feel free to chime in.

Am I missing something or is there no notification pop-ups for new posts in subscribed thread?
I tried looking through my general settings with no luck.
I get alerts for likes/reps and PMs but not for new posts.
