  • Seedbox Worthwhile?

Hi I started researching seedboxes, I was looking at the cost and which one to go with if I was to get one. my thoughts were to go with ultraseedbox
I live in Canada, so piracy rules are fairly laxed. I have a connection of 100mps/10mbps I've got decent speed.
I only use private sites with a secured connection in both directions.

Is it worthwhile to get a seedbox? do other Canadian's use seedboxes?

I realize this is an opinion based question, but I was curious what other peoples thoughts are on this pursuit.

    Thanks.

If you find it hard to maintain ratio on private trackers get a seedbox it will make torrenting much easier, plus it's on 24/7 so will always be seeding your files. Just use SFTP when transferring files from seedbox to your pc and you will be fine. If you are curious, start with a small package then upgrade if required.

It's certainly possible to maintain good ratio with 10mbps upload, although it will take you a lot longer than if you had much higher upload speeds. It does depend on the sites you are on, too. Many users have 100Mbps or 1Gbps upload or even higher, so in many trackers 10mbps upload is very low.

It depends on how much upload credit you want to have. In any case, you might want to try it out for a week or so and see how much of a difference it makes. You don't even need to be permanently subscribed to a seedbox, just a month can make a big difference.

          Thanks for the response guys.

I like the idea of trying it out for a month and seeing how I like it, also it will seriously help my ratio if someone does grab from my seedbox.
I feel like if i did a trial for a week it would take me that long just to get all my software/configuration sorted to make it semi-automated.

Yes, try it for a month, 1 week is just too short.

Thanks everyone for your input for what its worth I've gone with Ultraseedbox M-Wind giving me a nice system to get my feet wet at an extremely reasonable price.
For me I had over the course of 4 days roughly 20-25hrs worth of effort to get it up and running fully functional. I feel that this was on the highest end of hitches and setback that I went through.
One example, and the first problem that I encountered was over a 4 hours of diagnosing a problem that was a strange NIC card issue when trying to get USB and SSL to work properly; reinstalling the NIC drive took 5min, but the research, troubleshooting and cursing was lengthy.
I feel I'm now equipped to write a full 2 page tutorial on all the setup and configuration that I did for myself to repeat the system again or setup for someone. My setup is currently fully automated and running 98% how I wanted it.
              Success!

Look into Feralhosting as well, that $10/ month deal is hard to pass.
