Hey you! Thanks for taking the time to check out a little piece of software I've been working on for the past 10 months and I'm ready to go live on August 1st. I thought I would share this detailed overview of what is RiSE with my TI buddies. Please do note that RiSE is a commercially available software. However, don't let that stop you. If you like what RiSE does and would like to see an open source version then feel free to voice your opinions, suggestions, or just about anything else below.

    First off, what is RiSE?

RiSE is a weirdly worded acronym for "Rich Seedbox Deployment". It is the first commercially available automated seedbox deployment software on the market.

    What is its purpose?

RiSE's purpose is to automate seedbox installs across any network automatically without user intervention (Besides the purchase)

    Target Audience?

Seedbox providers looking to save time on setting up seedboxes and more time with their client's needs. However, we are looking at the possibility of an open source version for personal installs.

Where is the juicy feature list?

glad you asked, here it is (so far!):

    • WHMCS addon included for automatic setup after payments.
    • User and Admin control panel.
    • Easy RESTful API and XML-RPC API so you can integrate it into other services if you don't like what we have.
    • Everything is open source! Yep! Except the initial setup file, you can customize all you want out of it and make it yours!
    • Dynamic plugin system for seedboxes. Want autodl-irssi to be installed? No problem. Remote desktop? Sure thing.
    • Easy to use plugin framework in python to customize your own plugins.
    • Users can customize what plugins or features they want installed. Plugins can be automatic, manual, public, or private (paid for only).
    • Add/Delete/Suspend/Unsuspend/Upgrade/Reset Bandwidth/Adjust Quota/etc to any user and more!
    • Multiple admins allowed.
    • Log into the user's services to diagnose problems faster or the user can diagnose the problem themselves.
    • All RiSE products work from one control panel.
    • Accurate bandwidth monitoring to the byte.
    • Reboot services like rtorrent (obviously).
    • Built on the MVC framework, Codeigniter.
    • Automated crons.
    • CSRF protection.
    • AES-256 Encyrption on all passwords.
    • Free support!
    • Less support tickets will be filed by your users :)

    What is to come?

    • User API for seedbox related functions.
    • Mobile App for android/iOS for both admins and users.
    • User complaining about speeds? One click and he's moved to a less loaded server.
    • cleaner layout.
    • Overall performance and up-time of the seedbox.

    What are the fees like?

    What fees? It is free.

What is the difference between the versions?

RiSE Dedicated is for users who sell dedicated servers. It is customized for one person on one server install. RiSE shared is for shared servers where you will probable have multiple users and need the flexibility to dynamically increase users or decrease users.

    Can I see a demo?

Sorry, no demo setup at the moment.

    I have a suggestion!

Great! I'm always looking for ways to improve. Even if you hate this product, please explain why in the comments.

    Hello Synth,

Let me state that first off this program is quite impressive and interesting. I think a personal form for home users would be great, this way people wishing to use their own pc's as seedboxes would have no troubles in setting one up. Just my 2 cents.

    Regards,

Thanks! I would love to have a personal version with a mobile app that you can connect to your seedbox from home. Only if there is enough interest though. Thank you for sharing your 2 cents!

This looks really interesting. Are most of the automated procedures written in Python?

Also, I didn't quite catch why it's open source and it's commercial at the same time. How does that work out?

Anything server side on the seedbox is python. However, some python functions may invoke a bash script (ie. restarting rtorrent)

This is an example plugin layout on a seedbox, all of it is in python and invoked in accordance when certain actions are called.

Almost everything is open source. The setup file to put the seedbox into listening mode is encoded into a binary file that self extracts the shared libraries needed to verify a license key. I still wanted the ability to have a sandbox for seedbox providers where they can get as much into the code as they want to make it something unique and their own. There are risks involved but I'm willing to take them.

I would love to see a mobile version and some kind of open-sourced version. Maybe, to make sure you keep getting paid for your excellent work, you could create subscription-based contracts for providing customer support? Kind of like how SugarCRM does it?

I'm very interested in this software as well. Will it be available for purchase on August 1st?

I would be interested in paying you for a installation service, where you would setup the software for me initially. I'm still familiarizing myself with seedboxes (just started playing with them about a week ago), and while I've been able to get everything setup just fine so far, RiSE sounds like it has a lot of moving parts, so it would be great to have it professionally installed/configured.

Any initial installation is free to install, so don't worry about paying me. However, are you a seedbox provider? If not, there may be an open source version for personal use in the future.

The release date should be August 1st if all goes according to plan on richseedboxdeployment.com - Registered at Namecheap.com (Have to set it up first)
