README Rules and Advertising Inquiries

VIP members may ask you for a free 1 week trial.

You must comply within 24 hrs or your threads will be closed.

The box must have:

10 gigs space

50 gigs transfer

1 week duration

At minimum...


Up to two trial boxes can be asked PER THREAD. Consider this payment for opening an advertising thread.

The member must then review your services and post this review to your thread. If s/he does not then report them to a moderator. They similarly have 24 hrs to comply.



If you have paid for a sticky thread this does NOT apply to you. Become a paid sponser to have a sticky thread of your own.

Anyone is able to post ad advertisement here for free at anytime. Of course there are a few rules and they are as follows:

1. You must provide 2 trials to VIPs in lieu of payment for this advertisement thread. The box must have: 10 gigs space, 50 gigs transfer, 1 week duration,

At minimum...

You have 24 Hours to comply with the above or thread will be Closed

2. A successful trial must be accompanied by a review 24 Hours after completion of trial there will be no tolerance of this rule being overlooked

3. VIPs are allowed 1 trial per Month. All successful trial awarded must be annotated on the thread

4. You are only allowed 1 thread open for 30 Days for free upon after 30 Days you can either renew via providing 2 additional trials to 2 VIPs or buy a sticky

5. There is to be no mundane bumping of threads in this section. You want your thread on top buy a sticky. You are free to post if there was a major shake up with services or whatever you may have in your Company or to answer any questions from a potential customers

6. Links are only allowed in the original post, there is to be no further posting of any external links on your thread or it will be closed. In the same token you are not to post links on your signature of any kind unless you are a Sponsor. Sponsors are not subject to the linking rules of this area

7. There are to be no more giveaways in this area the only trials that are to be given here are the 2 that were allocated for payment of thread. Vendors giveaways would go on Vendor's Trials from hereon out. In the same token non-VIPs are not allowed to post for trials in this area only in the new section. Again Sponsors are free to provide trials if they see fit in both areas

    Solid State Drives
    Many of our plans utilize SSD's (solid-state drives) instead of traditional hard drives. SSD's have SIGNIFICANTLY higher throughput and random read/write speeds than normal hard disks. At any company offering seedbox services on standard hard drives at 1gbit, you can expect to see a maximum of 50MB/s download and 20-50MB/s upload (usually much lower), shared between all the users on the server. At Seed.ST the maximums are 112MB/s download and upload on 1gbit and 540MB/s download and upload on 10gbit.

    Setup and Disk Space Quotas
    Setup is instant and automatic, after you subscribe via paypal or credit card it will immediately take you to the login page for your ruTorrent. If you go over your disk space quota (the amount of disk space your plan has) your download speed will be limited to 1kb/s, your torrents will not be stopped and your upload will continue to run normally. Once you delete some files the download speed will be restored automatically within a few seconds.

          Yep, sorry, I've offered standard hard drive plans, hybrid plans, and hybrid SSD-caching plans (ZFS L2ARC, Adaptec maxCache RAID) in the past and I've found that the only way to consistently guarantee good service on high-bandwidth connections is SSD-only.

          I will be offering 10gbps servers later in the year as well and the only thing you can use for those is SSD's.

          Most likely, I will increase the space offered on these plans later once the servers are at capacity as well. (probably 60 or 75GB maximum) But right now I need to establish a baseline for real-world usage.

            Ok fair enough. Do you accept customized orders? For example, instead of 50 GB for 25$, something like 100 GB for 50$. Also, the SSH access is user restricted or you give root privileges as well? I'm asking coz i'm looking for OVH VPS-like slices with the ability to install custom software like vpn, vncserver etc.

              I can definitely do larger sizes for more money, but I can't do VPS's like you need. The shell account would not be a superuser account it would be your regular user account without root privileges.

              I'd suggest OVH vps'es - they've just had a refresh and they are offering more bang for your buck and no setup fees.

              Other good vps providers are vps.net and linode.com, I use them both personally.

                I have developed a JSON API for Seed.ST, for more advanced users.

                Here's a little documentation about it:
                All JSON results have a "success" key which will be true or false.


                To get your API KEY go here:
                https://www.seed.st/api/getkey/<username>?password=<password>


                There are only two API functions right now (bold are returned keys):
                https://www.seed.st/api/<apikey>/getspeed - returns your up and down speed for all torrents on your account.
                https://www.seed.st/api/<apikey>/getspeed?hash=<infohash> - returns your up and down speed for torrent with the specified info hash (on ST you can find info hash on the torrent details page).


                https://www.seed.st/api/<apikey>/addtorrent?url=<torrentURL> - attempts to add a torrent to your seedbox at the specified URL. It will be successful if an ATTEMPT is successfully made. If the URL or torrent file are invalid the API will not tell you.


                Please give me more suggestions on ways to integrate with ST, and more API function suggestions.

                Additionally, if you have a SuperTorrents account, you can link your seedbox to ST to add a 'download to seedbox' icon on the browse page, as well as other future integrations.

                  Using and for now it's ok, will report later :D

                  Got max. ~60MB/sec of DL and ~35MB/sec of upload, it's ok but could be better.
                  Main problem is small disk space, can't get on to bigger torrents ;)

                    1gbit slots are currently sold out. Should be some more next week, but keep checking back as current subscribers sometimes cancel.

                    10gbit SSD servers coming online tonight or early tomorrow at $40 per month or $12 per week.
                    Specs are the same just 10gbit instead of 1gbit. 540MB/s maximum upload speed (limited by 2x270MB/s Intel 320 SSD's)

                    Probably your swarm, the server you are on is very underloaded - you should be able to get 90MB/s upload easily.

                          Was testing it with rTorrent, and I don't think it is up to the task of 10gbit, I'm in the process of testing other torrent clients.

                          10gbit seedboxes are now available for $40/month or $12/week, with a caveat.
                          After thorough research and testing it appears there are no bittorrent clients that have multi-threaded file i/o, so the torrent is limited by the speed of one CPU (there are 16 of them in the server). One CPU seems to be able to handle roughly 110MB/s of file I/O (and I assume file verification) while downloading in all of the clients I've tried (Deluge, rTorrent, uTorrent, Transmission).


                          What this means is:
                          Your account will be limited to 110MB/s DOWNLOAD.
                          Your UPLOAD should be relatively unaffected, I have seen up to 210MB/s in my testing at 65% CPU usage. 400MB/s is theoretically possible on very low latency internal links (other servers at OVH).
