Tracker Description

IPTorrents has been around since 2006, as has become the building block for a lot of torrent-eers. It is an essential tracker, and has somehow managed to be 'The jack of all trades' and 'master of all' simultaneously. Content-wise, it can put up a pretty good fight against all the high end trackers; There isn't much you can't find on IPT that is available elsewhere. They encompass all the genres of digital-ness, including movies, TV, games, software, music, pictures etc.

The majority of torrents are seeded very well, even the ancient ones. But this doesn't mean that it is hard to seed yourself, there is lots of leeching going on, and it is incredibly easy to keep your ratio up. It is also very relaxing in the sense that you do not have to worry about H&Rs too much because of their 'zap' system, where you can 'zap' a torrent (for 50 bonus points) before you have reached the full seedtime or 1:1 so you no longer have to seed it - Which takes the pressure off a bit.

tl;dr - Vast content, essential, easy to keep ratio.

IPT is definitely one of my favourite trackers it has the all the good bits of the 'elite' trackers, but at the same time is easy to maintain, and is less fragile. The IRC and forums are kinda medium active. It's not like a huge party in there or anything.

The rules are fair, and they're free and easy with invites. You can join without being invited if you donate $20, which is good.

The website is pretty easy to navigate, and their search engine is good. It allows you to get a fine filter on your torrents. The amount of freeleech (34937 freeleech torrents) is also a great feature which I utilised to get a nice buffer going.

There are a little bit money grabbing almost to the degree that it starts to nibble at the tracker's health. As they throw around freeleech and H&R immunity to donars like it is going out of fashion.

But overall, a highly recommended tracker - One that any pirate should not live without!!

Speed: 7/10 (But new torrents are very fast)
Community: 6/10
Content: 9.5/10

Nice review, thanks.

How many bonus points do you get for seeding, and what is the max # of torrents you can get bonus points for at any given time?

Thanks!

I poked around the FAQ and found this:

For every hour the tracker registers you as a seeder, you receive a minimum of 2 points of seedbonus. As long as you are seeding a complete torrent the points count will go up accordingly. This mean that if you seed 10 torrents you will receive 1 point per hour. The limit is 10 torrents. ~I also added the above to the review just now :D

I hope that helps answer your question :)

Currently IPT report "60502 XXX torrents" - So I guess that is pretty active. You can also turn off all the XXX torrents in the control panel which is a good feature if you do not want to see videos like "Ocean's Eleven Inches", when you are trying to find a George Clooney movie.

Thanks for the review LaFemmeFatale. Unfortunately I can't rep you for it (yet) :/

I have a few questions about IPT too: Firstly, I'd like to know if WEB-Rips are allowed. Also I'm interested in their upload policy: who is allowed to upload and what are the rules for uploading content? I'd appreciate it if someone could provide more info on that.

Hi Cfpe!

WEB-Rips are allowed here, they have lots of them :)... You aren't automatically allowed to upload stuff, but they have this application - Here is a copy/paste from their application page:

Trial Uploader Application

Dear Prospective Trial Uploader

Now that you have decided to contribute to the IPT Community, please be advised of the following points in order to proceed to apply

It is essential that you complete the form only if you think that you can meet the minimum requirements and existing uploading policy as enunciated by the IP Torrents Team

You must know that all applications are vetted on the basis of merits and voted upon by the staff. All decisions are final and are well debated amongst the staff, hence, following up on your application status by 'Personal Messages' to the senior staff are disallowed

The Trial Uploader Program is monitored closely by the IPT Team. In the eventuality of your successful selection (you will be allocated a minimum upload quota - which means number of torrents/size of torrents, based upon your upload speed)

You will be given a time period of 14 days (2 weeks) to upload 10 torrents of your content to the tracker, failing which the Team will revert you to your last rank

IP Torrents is a premier site, and we assume that if you apply you are well versed in creating torrents, understand the technicality required, be in a position to bring premier content and have sufficient knowledge to design your torrent page

The minimum requirements are as follows:

1. You must have at least 150KB/s upload speed in order for your application to be approved

2. You must have been a member of IPT for a minimum of 4 weeks
Anyone trying to apply before time is subject to immediate disqualification of the application

3. You must have attained a rank of Power User or higher

4. You must be in a position to seed your torrents for a continuous period of at least 48 hours or until you have 5 other seeders on them

5. You are required to provide detailed information about the content you wish to upload and about yourself in the appropriate fields

6. VIP's who are new to the site and do not meet the minimum requirements will be auto denied. If you don't meet the minimum requirements don't waste staffs time by applying

If you do not meet all the above mentioned criteria - you are not eligible to apply!!!

Furthermore, any Uploader who has been demoted 2 times will not be reconsidered and could be subjected to disciplinary consequences for wasting our Team's time

We only accept client screen shots as proof of speed. We have included a screen shot of exactly the way we want it. Any attempt to alter the screen shot in any way will lead to immediate demotion when you are caught with out the opportunity to ever apply again. If we can tell the screen shot is altered before you are promoted you will not be able to apply ever again. Copy of screen shot below. Your image needs to look exactly like the screen shot, seedbox or normal client. Pick a torrent with the highest speed you can get

Thanks for the review. I wouldn't agree an everything, though.

First, I don't think that it puts a good fight against the high level trackers. I wouldn't agree that you can find almost anything there. If you search for movies which got released in 2006 (for example) you might be lucky and find one HD version of a scene group (which isn't really that great) but most of the time you find only some BRrips. Of course if it is a well-known high-budget movie, you'll get more HD releases. Just an example, we can go on like this with TV shows or music, too.

They do have lots of dead torrents. Just sort the browse page to list the amount of the seeders. Also lots of older torrents that are seeded are only on home connections which means it takes some time.

It is a great 0day tracker for the latest, most recent stuff. But it is not an option if you are a Movie freak or a TV show geek, it is really bad for music lovers (just searched for chamillionaire and they do have only four seeded torrents).
Like I said, it is a great tracker for recent stuff but if you need something which got released 3 years ago, there is a huge chance you won't find anything.

Anyway, its a good tracker for newcomers which aren't experienced with private trackers, ration and things like that.Thank you for this review.

Yea,based on things I had been told in the past, I was imagining that it might have many millions of torrents. Turns out it has about as many as Waffles.

Yes very good for recent stuff, but not for old/specialized items...

It's a really good tracker with a lot of torrents and a huge User number. This tracker is perfect for beginners, cause an invite isn't that hard to get:D

Just for some comparisons for people wondering:

- TV: BTN has 115k torrents, IPT has 130k. However, BTN has 3 times as many Season/packs torrents (33k vs 11k), wheres IPT has more single episodes. So BTN actually has far more content, if you consider that 22k * say 15 episodes per season is equal to that many single episode torrents.

- Ebooks: IPT has 11k torrents, with many themed packs, i.e. medical book collections, random book collections. This is similar to Bitme, and they probably share many of the same packs, and each have different ones. Bibliotik has 130k torrents, but these are all single item or yearly magazine pack torrents. In my experience, there is some overalap, but the content bases actually tend to be much different. Same goes with MyA.

- Movies: 100k torrents in IPT vs 213k torrents/94k movies at PTP (that was back in 2012)

- Music: 33k torrents vs 300k at Waffles, and 2 million at What.

- Games: 12k torrents vs. twice that at GazelleGames, and more than that at Blackcat Games.

- Magazines: Negligible content.
