    AnimeByt.es

    • [*=left]Signup URL:
      • [*=left]http://animebyt.es/application.php
        • [*=left]Signup is rarely open these days, but if it is, you should be able to get in as long as you are familiar with private trackers and have watched at least a few anime. The main reason signups are closed is because they need a new server.

    • [*=left]Tracker Birthday:
      • [*=left]Mid '09

    • [*=left]Tracker Type:
      • [*=left]Specialized: Only Anime, Manga, J-Music and OST's, plus other anime-related material such as pc-games.
[*=left]Ratio-Based with well-designed Bonus point system.

    • [*=left]Tracker Overview:
      • [*=left]AnimeByt.es is a specialized tracker which tracks anime, manga, j-music and OST's, plus other anime-related material such as pc-games. It is relatively small, with the current user cap set at 7500, (due to go up soon,) but has a large number of torrents for its size, at 33,333. AnimeByt.es uses a heavily-modified version of gazelle designed to work well for their specialized needs, which leads to a very clean and easy to browse layout. It has a vibrant user community, complete with forums, IRC, achievements, web-radio, and a watched-list complete with ratings. Although it can be hard to seed sometimes, any user (no matter how bad their connection) can survive here as long as they pay attention to H&R's and the Bonus ( or Yen) system.

    General Info Screenshots

    • [*=left]Home:
      • [*=left]The blocked out parts on the top right are username, ratio, and bonus points from left to right.

    • [*=left]Tracker Statistics:

    • [*=left]Other Statistics:
      • [*=left]Some fun extra stats that can help give a better understanding of the site for the outsider.

    • [*=left]Torrent Categories:
      • AnimeByt.es has three categories viewable directly from the browsing page, with each of these split into subcategories. Here you can see a screen capture I've edited to show all of the subcategories. As you can see, the Music and OST categories are very similar.

    • [*=left]Browse Page:

    • [*=left]Advanced Search Options:
      • [*=left]Here are all of the advanced search options edited together into one image.

    • [*=left]Franchise Page:
      • [*=left]Here you can see all of the content related to a particular franchise in one place, along with a lot of information about the franchise. Take this screenshot for example.

    • Item listing:
      • [*=left]Here you can see all of the different torrents for a series, manga, OVA, etc all in one place. Clicking on any of the torrents will show a drop-down with a description, or list of files, or screenshots, or peer list. Take this screenshot for example. (I clicked on a few of the torrents so you can see the some of the drop-down info.)

    Rules Screenshots

    • Golden Rules:

    • [*=left]Ratio Rules:
      • [*=left]Pretty much what this is about is that you won't get banned for low ratio, you'll just end up with limited download slots. Also, they don't like H&R much.

    • [*=left]Anime Upload Rules:

    • [*=left]Music Upload Rules:

    • [*=left]Chat Rules:

    • [*=left]Tagging Rules:

    • [*=left]Screen Shot Rules:
      • [*=left]Anybody can upload screenshots after the torrent is up; this can make being an uploader a little easier.

    • [*=left]Client White List:
      • Most of this won't matter to anyone, but pay attention to the bottom section about bad clients.

    Social & Bonus Screenshots

    • [*=left]Forums:
      • [*=left]The forums are alive and well, and also quite friendly.

    • [*=left]IRC:
      • [*=left]IRC is very much alive and well on this site. There is even a role-playing channel.

    Server irc.animebytes.tv
    Port 6660-6669
    SSL port 7000

    • [*=left]Achievements:
      • [*=left]The achievements section is a fun feature on the site: below is roughly what a new user would see.

    • [*=left]Watched List:
      • [*=left]The watched list is kind of like a stripped down version of MyAnimeList or Anime-Planet. You rate the shows you've watched, and it gives you a nice little stats page. This is also where the ratings come from on the item listing pages.

    • [*=left]Bonus Points (Yen):
      • [*=left]A lot of thought has gone into the bonus point system at AnimeByt.es. It is one of the best I've seen. It does a quite a good job at keeping older and harder to find torrents alive. They even show you a complicated mathematical formula that they use.

    • [*=left]Freeleech
      • [*=left]Anything 1080p or an image of a DVD or Bluray is automatically freeleech. Exclusive torrents and a couple Staff Picks are also freeleech.

    • [*=left]Donations:
      • [*=left]Some people might not like that the donation box often gets left open a bit longer than needed to fill the requirement.

    • [*=left]User Classes:
      • [*=left]You'll need to upload 10 torrents before you can advance past the base user classes. If you have nothing to upload, it's pretty easy to just re-encode a flac music torrent a couple of times to hit the 10 uploads you need.

    • [*=left]Invites:
      • [*=left]Nice system here, not too stingy. Once you've hit Power User you get one per month and more if your invitees are good. If you aren't able to upload anything so you can reach Power User, you can always ask for some.

    Conclusion
(I Know, that was a lot of screenshots. Thanks for scrolling.
    )

    • [*=left]Content:
      • [*=left]9.5/10 This is the goto tracker if you want anime, especially older stuff that's dead on the other trackers. It won't be as good as if you'd followed every fansub blog out there for the last 10 years, but it's pretty good.

      [*=left]Speed:
      • [*=left]7/10 Varies. Some popular stuff I can get at 5 or 6 MB/s, and I usually get at least 1 MB/s, but on some poorly seeded torrents I'm down to 50 or 100 kb/s. There are a lot of torrents on here that have less than 5 seeders, but that doesn't seem to affect the speed too badly. I should also note that I've never been dropped by the last seeder on anything.

      [*=left]Retention:
      • [*=left]8/10 Most stuff stays alive here for good. Sometimes things die, but not often, and quite rarely when it's the only release for something. A good portion of the torrents available were uploaded near the beginning months of the tracker's lifetime. It's not going to be quite as good as BakaBT, which literally has a seedbox sponsoring them by holding a backup of every single torrent they track, but it's still pretty good.

      [*=left]Community:
      • [*=left]9/10 One of the best communities around, with some fun things to do around the site. It can be fun just to poke around. Put it this way. How many trackers do you see around that have competitive aspect achievements as well as a watched list? You can even get an achievement for listening to the web-radio, which occasionally has a live DJ. The forums have plenty of fun threads, as well as some very helpful tutorials. Due to the ludicrous amount of bonus points that some users have, there are some pretty funny competitions that go on for bonus. IRC is very much alive and well with 8 channels. (Some of those are just utility channels.) There is even a channel dedicated to role-playing.

      [*=left]Comparison (other Anime trackers):
      • [*=left]9/10 Good anime trackers that offer a lot of (english) dual audio can be hard to find. The only other one I've used that comes close is BakaBT, and they refuse to track a lot of anime for licensing reasons. Retention times are way higher than you see at places like nyaa or tokyotosho.

      [*=left]Personal Comments:
      • [*=left]If you like to download Anime or related material and have ever been unable to find something, chances are pretty good it's on AnimeByt.es. For titles that BakaBT tracks, BakaBT is often faster, but often you'll be looking for something that BakaBT has on it's blacklist, so AnimeByt.es to the rescue. Occasionally AnimeByt.es will have a better release than BakaBT, which is nice sometimes. Basically, if you like Anime, this comes Highly recommended. It is often indispensable for finding anime.
[*=left]Seeding can be quite hard, (unless it's site-wide freeleech time!) so use the bonus point system. It's not hard to seed 100 torrents here and not see any of them uploading for periods of time, so you won't be using much upload, but you will be raking in the bonus points. Seeding around 30 Anime torrents will get you roughly 20GB worth of bonus points in a week.
[*=left]You don't get banned for low ratio here, and not for H&R either. What will happen in either of these cases is that your download slots will be limited. Pay attention to the Bonus system and you'll have a buffer big enough that you won't even have to look at your ratio or worry about download slots.
[*=left]Some people have said they dislike the layout, but I think it is one of the best features. Very clean and easy to use. The franchise page can be very useful in finding related material that you may not have been aware of, and the listing for individual parts of a franchise is great for quickly finding the best torrent. The only downside is that you won't instantly see a link directly to the torrent you want after clicking "Search."
[*=left]Currently they have some problems with timeouts on announces due to the need for a server upgrade. They have one in the works, but it is currently unknown when this will actually happen.

u2.dmhy is a private anime tracker. u2 is much better than animebytes in terms of video / audio quality / tracker activity. Everything is RAW (no subtitles or dual audio) unless if you download ISOs, which u2 has the most of.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've edited the offending section - wasn't aware of that one. I did a search for u2.dmhy and found a couple useful lists of anime trackers - here they are in case anyone cares. They are quite full of spam though...
      BravoList
      TopTracker.ru

I have to point out though, that RAW only (except for ISOs) would be a pretty huge barrier for a lot of users.
As far as ISOs go, does it have more than AsianDVDClub? They are an ISO (BD & DVD) only tracker and have 14754 Anime torrents, although only 5896 are currently seeded.

You're right. I pointed out u2 because everyone thinks that animebytes is the only private anime tracker :(

u2 has 1805 DVDISO / BDISO torrents and 70 of them are unseeded.

This is THE site if you want to search anime, you can find almost anything with great quality. It's worth it in my opinion.

Nice tracker review +18 rep, very well organize. If you don't mind can you change the font color to a more bright color. Thanks

Animebytes is a very good tracker with a lot of content, the speed is alright, old torrent has couple of seeder which is nice.
I dislike this tracker because there a lot of bugs such as can't connect to their server or the overload problem.

They always exceed their donation limited at least 3 times.
They should really put some of those funds into a better server.

Which font wasn't bright enough? I tried to keep each screenshot section a different colour so it was easy to see when scrolling through quickly.
BTW they are working on getting a new co-located server, seems to be taking a while though.

Yah it has been a while. Their server donations have also gone double what they wanted as well.

                    Some corrections because why not~

User cap's going to be raised whenever the site gets a new server but that could be a while. Invites are only available to certain user classes right now and the reason why applications are closed atm is because the site's under lots of strain and it has reached the user limit in the past. Web-radio's also been unused for months. Re; categories, there's heaps more than just the main three (music and OST
should really be labelled the same anyway). Complete choices on the upload page are: Anime, Manga, Artbooks, Light Novels, Music, PVs & Lives, Games, Visual Novels, Live Action and Packs. Your donations comment's also misplaced afaik as the requirements usually get filled up long before the month is over. Furthermore, you can't get banned on the site for either a low ratio or for having a large number of H&Rs; there are users on the site with genuine 0.0* ratios and someone recently posted who had 388H&Rs. The only consequence is that your download slots get limited.

Also worth pointing out that many aspects of the site will likely be overhauled whenever the server upgrades actually happen and there's a few issues such as the convoluted search that won't be fixed till then.

Donations actually go towards paying the monthly server costs and not into buying a new server entirely as that was donated by a couple of the users on the site. The server upgrade's very overdue though and it's unknown when it'll finally go through.

                    Spoiler Alert!

I should clarify what I meant here. They currently have their overflow for donations to monthly server costs going to the fund for a new server, but the progress bar they have on the donations page has gone to nearly twice what they had their target set at.
Now... I understand the concern some people have about torrent sites accepting more than server costs for donations, but that is usually in regards to ad supported sites, which AB is definitely not. As far as I'm concerned, they can take all the extra donations and build an extra fancy server, and/or take a little bonus for themselves. They deserve it. Another cool thing they could do is put the money towards getting more content.... But it doesn't matter. Right now all the extra donation money is in a fund, not in someone else's pocket, and judging from the dev's past behaviour they will very likely post in the forums to discuss with the community what to do with any extra cash after the new server is up and running.

Anyone can get invites by asking for one in the invite request thread, as long as your account is a couple of weeks old and doesn't have any H&Rs.

i was looking for a good tracker on anime and i got an invite to anime bytes. the site looks decent. but old torrents are not so well seeded, but aren't most trackers like that as well? however, i don't really see myself using this tracker ever since i stumble upon bakaBT, which is a semi-private tracker. the contents are extremely well organized, well not to the gazelle level, but it's very decent. much bigger user base so old torrents aren't that slow.

however, anime bytes is still a great tracker if you want a private one :)

As far as I know, everything is subbed in English. I've never, ever seen an anime subbed in a language other than English.
