    Default GazelleGames (GG) Review

The general games tracker is monopolised by the aged BCG, BG and UG trackers.

GazelleGames.net or GGn spawned to become the most up-to-date and organised games tracker on the "scene" and the ONLY Gazelle based general games tracker. We focus on games, new, old, and from any platform with a specific emphasis on making older games accessible too. In addition, with Gazelle's excellent search features, you'll never miss a game again! You might recognize the name GGn as the site was featured on FileShareFreak and FileNetworks.

    Features

This list below is just a SAMPLE of the code based improvements we've made up to this point. Having two dedicated developers who are ALWAYS around means features are suggested and added all the time.

    • Screenshots and youtube video form fields
    • Review Ratings (CNET, IGN and Metacritic)
    • Uploady (our automated upload system which requires only a game title and platform)
    • Hit n' Run system
    • ESRB Ratings
    • 'My' Platforms (add your consoles and use them as the default search filter when browsing torrents!)
    • Account parking
    • RSS Feeds and Announces
    • Idle IRC Bonus
    • Donations progress bar (full disclosure with a REALISTIC target)
    • Multi user PM's
    • Anonymous uploading
    • Anonymous in the peerlist
    • BBCode button panel
    • Paranoia Level 6
    • Dropdown Box for Tags
    • BBCode spoiler tag
    • Staff recommendations
    • Forum Subscriptions
    • Latests posts
    • Like/Dislike posts

Current stats stand at a highly respectable sharing of 1,550 torrents!

    Torrents

Our current focus is in further expanding content and our pretimes now not only match other good games trackers but often beat them. The site feature set is rich and easy for the users to use. Nobody takes torrent descriptions and organisation as seriously as we do.

Are pre-times your thing? Our automated upload system ensures we have pre-times which OFTEN BEATS EVEN SCC, always leaving other games trackers in our dust. In the mean time our dedicated uploaders keep things moving at mach speeds for the GoG you classic game lovers want.

Worried you won't be able to afford the latest releases? We have lots of ratio boosters on site. From our numerous Upload GB giveaways, to our 6 hour freeleech on new torrents (including our seedbox hosted auto uploads). We even have a monthly staff pick that is not only freeleech, but has challenges too that get you extra Upload GB's!

    A Staff Pick Example - Fallout 3

    Amazing Organisation

All related uploads for a game at a glance. We put the emphasis on the game, not the individual releases.

We've been told that one of the best parts of the site is the feature rich design. Take a look at the torrent page example and you'll see what they mean. With a spot for a trailer, screenshots and ratings all in a nice simple layout, you should have all the info you need! And if that's not enough, we will be adding some more areas really soon.

GGn's Default Stylesheet (others available, statistics shown out of date)

Each Torrent is Freeleech for its First 6 Hours of Life

    Game Rating System

To make your life just that much easier, the scores are all color coded!

You may have noticed that we have a good selection of Freeleech torrents. We understand that because a lot of our members prefer using fast seedboxes, the average member might worry about their ratio. We remove this concern with regular Freeleech on the latest highly rated games.

Also, quality of course is key which is why we have put together a specially selected group of users to be Torrent Moderator's who ensure that every upload meets our quality standards.

One thing we are most pleased by is our site's design. It was professionally done and is very appealing to the eye. There is a Christmas theme available, with our first birthday theme in the works for the coming month. We are very sexy, one thing every member agrees. ;)

    The Torrents Browse Page

Torrent Page Example - Starcraft II

Click to expand the above for an illustration of the benefits of how we organise our uploads - every game exists in a group, meaning when subsequent updates or fixes are released, you can be notified instantly by simply bookmarking the game!

    Security

We have a fully functioning anonymity feature on site for you privacy junkies. It even goes as far as hiding you from the torrent peer list! Unlike on some sites, you don't need to donate to get this feature - we believe everyone is entitled to their privacy!

    Our Anonymity Features

Note the level 6 privacy feature that few sites, if any, have. It'll make it look like you were never even there (including peer lists) ;)

In addition to our advanced paranoia options we have taken special lengths to ensure outsiders do not make any unwelcome visits.

    Our Wordpress Cover Page

    Hidden Login via Wordpress

Extremely convincing, isn't it? Even the 'Remember Me' is functional and errors & the 'Forgotten Password' routine is disguised.

Needless to say, the site is running on the shiny new Gazelle RC2 platform and it makes the site amazingly easy to navigate. Also in the works is the migration to the much improved Ocelot core tracking software, which will bring some exciting new Freeleech posibilities we'll be sure to take full advantage of.

    Community

If community's your thing, check out our fun and informative forums where you can always find someone willing to jump on your post. We have a really tight community that would be happy to include you!

Or maybe IRC's your preffered method of 'socialising'. That's okay too because we have our own awesome IRC network and members only channel that is always active! Idle to gain free upload GB's or stick around to enjoy the custom bots that make things just that much more fun. :)

Have a thirst for knowledge? Check out our wiki which is chalked full of noob friendly guides!

While viewing our wiki, you have to stop by the GamePedia where our users have submitted their very own reviews on games for you to read! Each is reviewed by the staff before being indexed and added to our Wordpress cover page (to keep prying eyes out ;)) so you know that they are all quality reviews.

    The GamePedia
Don't have the ratio for a game that you really want? Make a review for it and we will make that game freeleech on ALL platforms ;)

Ever have trouble figuring something out? Then check out our awesome and friendly FLS team that is always there to help out!

We are setting up a request thread shortly. There is usually someone around to interview you but you have to have patience - we are from all different timezones, most do not wait long.

I'm pretty much always there dude. You only need to be around at one time, just for long enough. People rarely wait longer than an hour.

Still, check up the recruitments thread :)

How does the content on GG compare to BCG or BG?

I'm already at UG and BG, but I wanted to give GG a try after reading the review. Someone else already complained about how nothing happens at the irc-channel. Against my better judgment I still gave it a shot. I waited for 4 hours until one of the mods finally showed up and contacted me. I replied after 4 minutes, but instead of getting a reaction, the guy just set his status to "asleep" after 15 minutes without dropping another line. Very nice...

15 hours have passed by now and nothing happened. For a tracker that tries to be more organized than others this is rather weak. I'll give them a few more hours, but then that'll be it.

Edit: Alright, after almost 24 hours of waiting a moderator finally showed up. I had to go through a catalog of over 20 questions to see if I'm competent enough. I have to say that I like that, since I can't stand noobs that manage to get on torrent trackers and then prove to be too ignorant to even extract what they downloaded.

Anyway, the site currently has over 3500 seeders, which is a a bit small for uploaders since you have to seed your stuff till it has been snatched twice. Many torrents I saw only had a handful of people on them. My first and only upload so far still has no leecher after over an hour. On BG and other sites it usually only took minutes for people to jump on it, but I guess that's the price for joining newer trackers. On the other hand, you get a 20GB upload bonus when joining and that evens things out a bit.

Uploading torrents requires users to fill out quite a questionnaire each time which includes links to screenshots, trailers, even review ratings. That puts quite a burden on the uploader, but makes the torrents look nice and standardized which also effectively kills that asinine strife for over the top torrent descriptions that are celebrated on BG for example. The site design is clean and overall a welcome change from the outdated torrentbits design.

Long story short, I like it so far. The staff seems to be very nice and that is a rarity nowadays.

Edit 2: The site has currently 2000 users of which only 1300 were active last month. There are currently only 1750 torrents there, so that makes less for one downloader per torrent. Considering that the review was written almost exactly a year ago where it stated that they currently had 1550 torrents, you can see that only 200 additional torrents made it to the site within a year. Furthermore, the site offers over 50 download categories, covering most of the consoles and platforms available. However, that only makes for 35 uploads per category on average. So anyone asking how this site fares agianst all those giant trackers out there, it should be obvious that this site is pretty empty. IMO they treat themselves too exclusively, even though they have nothing exclusive to offer at this point. They should have gathered at least 10.000 users before becoming invite only.

A note to rippers: If you're into ripping your own games like Blackbox and many others and have already your own following that recognizes your name, don't bother uploading there. You don't get to use your release tag you're granted on any other site out there. Unless you're skidrow or reloaded, you get labeled as "Home Rip" and that's it. Since the search function is rather terrible and the result list uses a very confusing category system, your stuff will not be easily identified. Usually, a site as small as this should be glad to get some unique content, but instead they leave the one thing that could set them apart to the big trackers.

Edit 3: As if upping the own ratio wasn't bad enough already under these conditions, the tracker seems to be buggy also. So far it only registered half of my uploaded amount. Meh... Furthermore, torrents can only be edited partially once created and after some unknown time has passed, the editing function vanishes completely... So instead of giving you the chance to work on the torrent description while already seeding, you have to work yourself through the lengthy and also buggy torrent creation form first and do it properly, wasting valuable upload time. Upload organization is something they didn't take into account. Also, you're only allowed to delete your own torrent in the first few minutes after creation. After an undisclosed time has passed, you lose all control over it. Of course neither the wiki nor the rules mention this behavior. For a serious uploader, this is a joke. I think I'm pretty much done with it...

For all of you who want to apply, use an irc-client such as mirc that as a sound notification option and enable it for chats and joins so that you can actually hear when a mod enters. Don't just wait inactively, but engage them, because in my case I was simply overlooked by the joining mod. If I hadn't contacted him, I would have probably waited another 24 hours. If no one responds to your request in reasonable time, then use a whois on all staff members to check their idle times. In my case Daedy was idle for 95 hours and others had gathered well over 30 hours, so no point in hoping for them to suddenly contact you. Also, here's the questionnaire you have to answer to once you get lucky enough to catch someone:

    Section 1: Torrent/Tracker Questions
    1. How long have you been using private trackers?
    2. On average, how long do you seed your torrents?
    3. Are you a member of any other games trackers? If yes, which ones?
    4. Where did you hear about us?
    5. What about GGn has attracted you to seek an invite?
    6. What is a good ratio?
    7. When is a 'scene' release a no longer a ‘scene’ release?

    Section 2: Gaming Questions
    1. How many hrs per week (roughly) do you spend playing games?
    2. What is your favorite gaming console (Xbox, Wii, PC)?
    3. What were the last 3 games you played and what are your opinions of them?
    4. Can you tell me some of the differences between the RTS and RPG genres?

    Section 3: The Wrap-up
    1. Please provide 3 links to your profile (the URL that others would use to look at your profile) on other private trackers (not Demonoid). Do not provide screenshots unless specifically asked for them.
    2. Please provide a direct link to a speedtest.
    3. How many accounts are you allowed to maintain at GGn?
    4. Is it okay to access to log into a private tracker using a proxy?
    5. If you do indeed get an invite to the site, what qualities will you bring to the community? Do you have any special skills or knowledge with regards to gaming/torrents?
    6. If you pass, what email do you want your invite sent to? Hotmail, MSN, and Live addresses tend to have issues with invites so if possible a Gmail account would be best.

Note that a few questions can't actually be answered since you don't have access to their rules section as a non member. You have to rely on common sense for that.

Fun fact: Out of the 29 staff picks (recommended torrents), 13 are Call of Duty titles. Go figure...

The mods turned out to be dicks after all. Not worth the hassle just to enter an otherwise empty tracker... If someone still wants to try it out, I still have an invite to waste.
