    Default Cinemageddon.net | CG | Movies | 2011

    Tracker Name: Cinemageddon

    Tracker's URL: cinemageddon

    Signup URL: cinemageddon

    Tracker Type: Movies

    Tracker birthday: april 18th 2007

    Cinemageddon is a movie tracker with a very selective taste for movies. They specialize in movies (OSTs aka original soundtracks included) that are underappreciated (for reasons ironic or otherwise) in the world of cinema (rare, obscure, trashy, ...). To be more specific the movie needs to meet at least one of the following rules (not set in stone):
    - The movie has a rating lower than 5.0 on IMDb;
    - The movie has not had a theatrical release within the past 12 months;
    - The movie was made on a low budget;
    - The movie is rare. If google doesn't turn up much, and a physical copy is hard to find, it's probably rare.

    The maximum amount of users is set at 21.000. However, accounts are deleted every 30 minutes, opening slots for new members. Another way to enter the site is to get an invitation from a registered user or through the IRC channel.

    Currently Cinemageddon has over 60.000 torrents and on average 50 new ones are added each day.

    A lot of torrents on the site have a spinning coin next to them. If you see that coin, it means the torrent is eligible for a bonus, which takes the amount you upload/download on a torrent and increases/decreases it by a certain percentage. From the left to the right, the percentages are 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% for the golden coin.

    Bonus System 2: Featured Torrents

    The featured torrents at the top of the Browse page give a 50% bonus and are only featured for 48 hours at a time.

    Ratings and personal commentaries
    - Content: 9/10
    They have a lot (60k+ torrents) of movies and original musical soundtracks and a lot is added on a daily basis (50+ average). I'd say 10% are DVD-R uploads.

    - Speed: 6/10
    Most users have reasonable speeds, some crappy and of course there are the seedboxers. Depending on the circumstances (uploader, amount of users, ...) it may take 30 min for a torrent to be completed or several hours. My bandwidth however has yet to be used to the max (which is good since my download far exceeds my upload and a good ratio is required).

    - Torrent Availability: 9/10
    A lot of the 60k+ torrents are active or just 'temporarily dead; even the first ones dating may 3rd 2007 are alive and kicking.

    - Pre-times: -/-
    As mentioned in the Rules section, uploaded movies may not have had a theatrical release within the past 12 months. So no awards in this category.

    - Ratio: 9/10
    It is fairly easy for the average user (non-seedbox) to quickly achieve and maintain a good ratio due to all the bonuses CG has. It is however important to jump on a new upload as soon as possible since the most action will take place in the first 48 hours. And the faster you get in line, the more you will be able to upload.

    - Forum: 9/10
    Very active on all fronts, well structured and also well documented. Users have a lot of liberty, but moderators are always present to keep things nice and tidy.

    - IRC activity: 8/10
    Though not active 24/7, there's generally good activity going around, humorous chats and quick (and helpful) response from users and staff/operators when someone needs help or has a question.

    - Community: 10/10
    This is what impressed me the most; 21k members maximum and very strong and active on all fronts. A lot of uploads (also CG-exclusive rips), commenting on torrents, making custom (english) fansubs and fandubs, forum activity, etcetera. Great atmosphere. Makes you never want to leave.

    You want to know what else they have? How about:
    - an RSS feed
    - projects featuring hundreds of torrents
    - a handy "Seeds Wanted" feature that lists all the torrents that you've snatched or uploaded that needs a reseed, or help seeding
    - torrents can be bookmarked for later and also favorited
    - optional skin style (like the pink I've chosen)

    What more can you ask!? In its kind one of the best trackers! In my book definitely 9/10!

    Excellent review. I use to be a member on this site about 2 years ago but I ended up moving and forgot to log-in within the alotted time. I occasionally check to see if there are open slots. Not in a too much of a rush to get back in because I have seen quite a few of the movies they have.

    If you love TROMA productions, this tracker is a must have.

    I had one account there and it was disabled for innactivity then I made another one and it was yet again disabled for inacitvity lol idk why I bothered, not my sort of tracker. I hardly ever find any good movies there but then again as noted above they need to have a 5.0 or lower in imdb and thats not really a good thing but i respect what theyre trying to do, if you're into rare movies, this is the perfect tracker for you.

    CG is my #1 favorite private tracker. Nothing else comes close. Where else can you find a hundred movies featuring Taoist priests fighting hopping vampires? Or a dozen movies about yōkai? Gee willikers!

    This review is excellent and broad in scope, but I feel it's missing one area: the requests. If there's some rare, weird, strange, or hard-to-find film, you can go make a request. Someone is likely to have a copy. Of anything. More than 60% of my requests have been filled, which is incredible if you think about it: movies that were unavailable for download or for sale anywhere on the internet, anywhere in the world, are now in my collection because some pleasant fellow in Yugoslavia saw my request and uploaded a bootleg he bought in Shanghai in 1987.

    And that is so far beyond awesome.

    Maybe my favorite tracker. Strange, oddball films are king there. If what you're looking for has never been released on DVD (or even VHS) because no one could ever possibly hope to make money off of its release, chances are quite good you'll find it on Cinemageddon! Cult films, long forgotten TV specials, anti-drug PSAs, hard-to-find Spaghetti westerns, Kung Fu flicks, low budget slasher movies, experimental animation... the list goes on. Such a great tracker -- I can just about guarantee you'll find something there that'll drop your jaw! My favorite find? A 60s promotional sales film for the Brunswick Bowling Lanes company. Just brilliant.

    Oh gosh, this brings back memories, I'm going to see if my account is still active (aww, another one lost due to inactivity :( ), that site has the best collection or random horror movies and just bizzare movies in general. I remember I was going through a random movie list for a friend and I had so many problems finding their requests, after I ended up at cg and I was able to get pretty much all of them and then some more.

    The categories are very very well used I recall and I enjoyed digging through them and finding movies I'd never even heard about.

    EDIT: Signups just opened up, I'm back in again! :) Thankyou so much check4change and ti for reminding me. Great review btw.

    Cinemageddon is awesome! I've been there since the BEGINNING and still am on it. One of the best freakin' trackers for B-movies / grindhouse / trash / rarities, OUT THERE. No doubt! I even started up one of the projects, which I'm proud of... cause it's still being seeded out there! Hammer Horror!
