AnimeByt.es

Animebytes is one of the few trackers that's only for downloading Anime, Manga and J-Music and the only private one. It has over 18k torrents and 5k users. Here are some detailed information on the site.

Content:
Animebytes has a large selection of Anime in different qualities (HQ DVDRips, 720p and 1080p BDRips, DVD and Blu-Ray ISOs). All 1080p and Disc Images are freeleech which really helps your ratio.
Besides Anime this tracker also has lots of Manga, J-music and OST and also Games and CG sets (Needless to say they're all Japanese Games).
Hentai (18+) content and h-games are also allowed on the site.

Speed:
Unfortunately the number of seeders is really low on this tracker and most torrent have only one or two seeders, but I've never experienced speeds lower that 1mbyte/s on the torrents I've downloaded so far.

Bonus System:
You can also earn bonus points (Yens) by seeding torrents and some other activities. They're mainly used for buying upload credits (1000 Yen per GB) but you can also use them to buy a custom title (25000 Yen), a 24h personal freeleech(100k Yen) or donate them to the site or other users. Whenever the donated points to the site reach 9 billion, there would be a sitewide freeleech. You can also convert your upload credit into Yen (Same rate as before). I've posted a screenshot of how points are awarded to users.

Invites:
Power users recieve one and Elites recieve two invites per month. The maximum number of invites a user can have is 4. Also those whose invitees have good ratios recieve bonus invites.

IRC:
The site's IRC is on irc.animebyt.es: 6660-6669 (SSL on port 7000). Most of the channels need an IRC key but you can join the support channel freely.

Invite Application:
If you want to join the site, but don't have anyone who can invite you, you can always fill the application form on http://animebyt.es/application.php. If you have watched a few anime and aren't completely new to private trackers it's pretty easy to get in. BTW I joined this site by filling this form myself.

Haha, I was just about to start my own review of this tracker, but it looks like you beat me to it. Oh well, its a great review, and you said pretty much what I had in mind.

Animebytes is okay. I joined several months ago because I was told that it featured some torrents that cannot be found on BakaBT and I have not found it to be true.

Some of the problems I have seen on this trackers is:
1) The site is a little difficult to navigate. There needs to be more sort options, there are just way too many filters and overall, the search/browse feature just needs to be re-worked.

2) As stated by the OP, the number of seeders and also leechers is fairly low and this is always going to be a problem for a ratio site.

3) They have a somewhat cryptic ratio rule (which changes from time to time and they even state this) and there is no control panel to let you know if you have seeded long enough and met this cryptic ratio rule. So you are kind of stuck either solving the equation or seeding longer then necessary, which I seed for long time periods anyway but it is annoying not knowing exactly where I stand.

One of the main articles on homepage is basically an apology by the Development Team for creating a site that has quite a bit of issues, some which I have stated above.

This site has a ton of potential, I personally think it needs a little work.

I personally think they should go ratioless and I suggested that in their forums a few weeks ago. If they went ratioless, they would be a legitimate viable replacement to BakaBT.

As it stands now, BakaBT is a better tracker and Animebytes really isn't a replacement at this point.

I agree. Right now BakaBT is better than AnimeBytes. The have more seeders, better speeds and a more active community. The only problem with them is that they don't allow licensed anime on their site and I mainly user AnimeBytes for those.

That and they are a semi-private tracker.

Nice review. im currently using Bakabt and jPopsuki (for music) for my anime needs.

yup I agree with everyone else about BakaBT I <3 that site. But animebyt.es is a pretty sweet site too awesome community very active too but isn't BakaBTis aswell lulz

I would go for animebytes if youre looking for 1080 p series as they're widely available throughout the site and they're freeleech. The bonus system makes no sense at all sometimes. the good thing about this site is that you get just about every show youre looking for as baka doesnt allow many to be uploaded. baka has a very active community and is why i keep coming back, it all comes down to taste. you either want the content or the community.
