    General Overview:
BIT-HDTV is one of the better HDtrackers and has been online for over 3 years. The site is decent for TV content, but great for movies. It has had 2 hugely popular release groups as internals in the past- FraMeSToR & EuReKA, and presently has Grond & Kink. Something I really like about this tracker is that all files are uploaded unrar'd, which is a specially handy quality given the generally large file sizes. Most encodes are in x264, and XVids are therefore, very rare to come by. The site has a very clean design, but since it runs a TBDEV frontend, numerous encodes of the same titles are scattered about, and as a result the browse pages come off as unorganized. The site is invite-only and has been so for as long as I can remember.

    Content:

    • TV Shows are almost always HDTV rips available only in 720p (i.e. more than 95%, with the occasional 1080p blurays constituting the remaining 5%) which follow the conventional ~550mB for 22-min shows and ~1.09gB for 44-min ones. Only the more popular shows, such as CSI and Modern Family are offered, so don't expect to find shows like Merlin or Jay Leno here. There is also a lack of Nat Geo and Discovery shows (tracking 20-30 at the moment) which is a shame considering how stunning they look in HD. Regarding TV content, the best practice there is to grab the shows you want 5-6 hours within release, because number of seeds start dwindling soon after. There are about 7500 alive TV torrents with 450 of them being season-packs. Season-packs are neither well-seeded or get many snatches unless they contain Dexter, True Blood or The Big Bang Theory.

    • Movies are the strongest suite of this tracker, especially if you are not particularly looking for the latest films, because a good number (at least 5) of older movie titles are uploaded every day. There are ~9000 movie torrents (including packs) alive right now, with 1500 torrents being greater than 10gB. The typical file size for 720p movies are 4.4gB, going up to about 8gB. For 1080p rips the threshold starts at 6gB and goes upwards to mammoth sizes. BIT-HDTV serves uncompressed Blu-rays as well, and about 450 are alive at the moment. For popular films a large number of different encodes are available; for instance, for Avatar and Inception there are 35 and 21 encodes respectively.

    • Porn is very well seeded as long as the torrent falls within the 100 most recent uploads in the XXX category, i.e. the first two pages of the category; after the said 100, seeder counts on torrents fall below double digits. Members here love HD adult content perhaps more than any where else, so it takes under a day to build a 2x-3x buffer on the latest porn uploads if you have at least a 500kBps upload speed. If you are new to the tracker make sure you jump on a few (even if you don't intend to watch them) before you move on to the sort of content you are after.

    • Animes are seldom uploaded, as in the occasional Bleach or Naruto episode pop up on the browse page sometimes, but get a few grabs and the seeds die in a matter of days. The category only gets a good number of hits when animated feature films like Shrek, Ice Age and Despicable Me are uploaded with the Anime label.

    Download Speeds:
Speeds are nothing short of excellent. I presume, since the file sizes are large, only people with relatively fast connections finds downloading them practicable. You can nearly always expect download speeds greater than 100kB on a torrent with 5 seeders. So, on this tracker, you can take a torrent with 15 seeds to be well-seeded. I have found that, in terms of speeds, a torrent with 10 seeds on BIT-HDTV is generally as fast as a torrent with 50 seeds on IPTorrents. The download speeds even on torrents that are in initial seeding are good, which is a wonder in itself considering uploading is allowed for all user classes.

Difficulty in Keeping a Good Ratio:
If your upload speed is less than 500kBps, and you plan to download at least 20gB per week, BIT-HDTV is not an easy site to maintain good buffer on if you intend to rely on uploading alone. Most of the peers have high upload and download speeds and leechers, as a result, don't take too long to turn into seeders. This is where the Karma Bonus Point System comes in. Users get 1 Bonus point per hour (irrespective of upload speed) for seeding every torrent they snatch and 1250 points can be exchanged for 10gB uploaded and 2000 points for 20gB. To take maximum advantage of this feature, you can sort the torrents in the browse page, by ascending sizes (i.e. smaller to larger) and download and keep seeding a good number of torrents from your filter results.

Let's say you download ALL the torrents (50 torrents amounting to a total of ~5gB) on the first page of the filter results and seed them. As soon as you have 25 seeding hours on each one of them (or a total of 1250 seed hours) you will have your first 1250 points or 10gB uploaded. It's just that easy since there is no roof on the maximum number of torrents you're eligible to receive bonus points on. Although I wouldn't recommend this technique unless you have a poor upload speeds, since a mass abuse of this workaround will hurt the site.

There are torrents that reward 2x upload, which if not dead (which they are in most cases), rarely ever have any leechers, and this applies to 2x upload torrents that are a few days old as well.

    Freeleeches:
There are more than 2100 freeleech torrents alive, of which about 900 are 30gB+ untouched Blu-rays, while the rest are considerably smaller in sizes. Since June of 2010 more than 90% of the torrents made freeleech have been the untouched Blu-rays. While many of the freeleech torrents are well-seeded, there is only the occasional leecher, so you'd be lucky if you manage to make a ratio of 1 on a freeleech torrent after a week of seeding.

    Pretimes:
All uploads are unarchived so, expect a 20-40 minutes wait before the more anticipated TV/Movie titles are upped.

    Community:
The forums remain dead for most part unless there has been a recent announcement or someone has queries regarding the site. Same goes for the IRC channel, only there are 50-70 idlers at any given time, which is surprising because there are no bonus points for idling.

Initial Grace Period: Upholds until the first 20gBs are downloaded

Inactivity Pruning: After 50 days an account is left unused

    Minimum Ratios:
    1. If you have over 20GB downloaded you are required to have a ratio above 0.300.
    2. If you have over 50GB downloaded you are required to have a ratio above 0.400.
    3. If you have over 100GB downloaded you are required to have a ratio above 0.500.
    4. If you have over 150GB downloaded you are required to have a ratio above 0.600.
    5. If you have over 200GB downloaded you are required to have a ratio above 0.700.

I strayed from the template a bit because I thought the review would be easier on the eyes this way.

Prior to 2011, all BluRay discs were automatically free leech. This changed 1/11 and now only internals are free-leech.
Great selection of HD discs - some are free/2xup, some are free, some are 1/2x.
They also support uploading full blu-ray discs as compared to AHD which chooses not to.

Staff forgot about their tracker. Small amount of new fresh uploads, lot of scammers and traders at Invite forum section.

But speeds at old torrents still good, so if you need to search for old release, bit-hdtv is a good idea for it.

a very nice and informative review.

a very good tracker except that the site reeks with FLAWL3SS release.

one of the worst release group in terms of quality.
and worst of all they are all freeleech and every where.

but that aside a very good HD source which is not hard to keep ratio.

    ------------------------Post auto merged------------------------

I must add the point system has changed no matter how many torrents you areseeding you will get points for only 1 of them.

and it is kinda like .5 point each 30mins rather than 1 point each hour.

1 bonus point per hour (doesn't matter how many torrents or at what speed)

as said in the site itself

I'm very happy with this site, they don't have milions of users but the torrents are very well seeded/snatched. This tracker is pretty active and has a lot of releases for each movie.
I didn't know until now that the group FLAWL3SS isn't a good group. Gonna pay more attention next time I see a movie from them and read other ppl opinions.
This site will grow much more.
