Of course you can seed if you get the file from somewhere else. This is cross seeding and you can do it even if you're still stuck under the wait time restrictions. The only caveat is you must hash 100% of the file in order to start seeding. If you only hash it to 99% then you won't be able to download that last percent until the wait time is over.

It seems that the only way to get a good ratio initially is to pay for VIP status. Correct me if I'm wrong.
You may sort torrents descending by # of leechers, download top torrents from the SCC (for example) and cross seed it in both places. It's very simple and works perfect.

About the review: the tracker is really MUST HAVE.

I love torrentleech, altough imo it would be better if they allowed more then only scene releases for video content. For example, those smaller mkv x264 that are 700mb - 1.5gb encodings would be liked by many. They're great in quality and it doesn't use so much transfer data wich is limited in my case.

In the past I've had different times problems with this. Many of the nfo's included in torrents have a different size. Or sometimes there is a cover image missing. Luckily you can always ask on the irc channel if there is someone who wants to upload them for you. Altough imo it would be more convenient if the tracker would allow download for each torrent you have that is 98-99% downloaded, no matter what rank/ratio you have.

It does seem a bit silly with the wait times and slot restrictions for new users. This is very user unfriendly. I think it's like a proving grounds to show you know how to survive under these circumstances. Patience is key, and with the right selection of torrents you can get out of the wait time easily. Then it's smooth sailing after that. I got out of my wait times in a day cross seeding from IPT. Very easy. With a seed box I can do it within hours.

Last week I've downloaded a certain movie pack (15-20gb), and those can be a real pain to seed. To fix my ratio I seed about 10 older torrents, mainly brrips and xbox360 games. They all have a seed/leech ratio from approx. 10. But since they upload for about 2-3gb a day, I'm able to fix my ratio. Like Oki said, with cross seeding it's managable. But otherwise you can only download the latest popular torrents if you want to be able to keep your ratio ok.

I'd say that TL is an overestimated tracker mostly due to the difficulty of getting an invite.
Depends on how you define "overestimated", be it due to difficulty of getting in on one hand but TL:s equivalent imo SSC is equally as hard to get in to. They do complement one another though.

I've had TL for just a couple of days, and have to admit that it's an excellent tracker. there are many torrents that you can find on general trackers, such as IPT, but it seems that the volume that are added is amazing.

Mods are really helpful and has a great interface. Only thing I don't like it the 48h wait on new torrents which is a little silly. If you can cross seed from another tracker on new stuff you should have no problem building a ratio from the start.

Ok, I'm pretty new to private trackers... But I was lucky enough to get into TL when it was briefly open. Less than 2 days ago, I also graciously got invited into IPT. I'm also experimenting with seedboxes and....

On IPT in less than 30 hours, with all the freeleech avail, I've uploaded over 45GB, starting to create a nice little buffer on IPT.

On TL, in over 48 hrs, I'm scared to download anything on TL, downloaded about 3.8GB (like 2-3 small movies) that I thought would be in high demand and my ratio is slowly creeping up to 0.2 or so.... It seems other TL users might be like me ...scared to download also...

Since I'm a newbie, I haven't learned to cross-seed or anything.... I'm sure I can learn how pretty easily... Or I can just stick it out and very slowly build my ratio.

But my question is: Is TL even worth the effort? I could care less about being in a more "exclusive" tracker. What does TL offer that other trackers don't? In the back of my mind, I'm thinking that I could use my seedbox to help out another tracker community that is more into helping it's members.

Yes TL is worth the effort. Its better then IPT but not as great as the other good ones. But its decent though and if you get a good ratio on it, you will love it. TL offers non p2p stuff like IPT but it also has a lot of users so seeding is easy, and an AWESOME IRC. Trust me the people there are super nice. Just read up tutorials on Cross Seeding. Then do that. Trust me I was in the same position as you!!
