    Default ShelLife (SL) Review

    Shellife | Shellife | Music | 2010

Shellife is the child of My Bloody Tracker and Twee.se, it's a specialized music/music video tracker that doesn't allow any "mainstream" music to be uploaded. If you're looking for Lady Gaga or Radiohead, I'm afraid your search will not yield any results. Other than the "Popular Music" restriction, this is pretty much a general music tracker, but you will find an abundance of Electronic, Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Indie, Experimental, Punk, ect..

Every user has the ability to upload their own torrents upon registration, but the Uploaders User Class have freeleech on every torrent but are asked actively to support the tracker by seeding everything they download. Also Legends which are ex-staff have this ability too.

Shellife has some very special features, they have Freeleech & free torrents. Freeleech should be self-explanatory, but free torrents are well....free. You will not receive any download or upload for this torrent. Free torrents are designated by the original Uploader. Shellife has a bonus system, where you gain bonus points from either seeding, filling requests or when you receive thanks from another user. Bonus points can be used to either purchase upload credit or invites. Also we have Fanzines for download and there is a site radio & recommendations/other artist you may like which appears after a search for a torrent has been executed.

For Shellife being a niche tracker it has a very active userbase, both on the site & the forums.

Shellife's aim is quality over quantity, both in their users and available torrents. So while invites here are freely obtained, finding someone with account is the hard part. Occasionally, but not often the site does have open registrations.

Ha why does this tracker dislike Radiohead so much?
Anyway, is it hard to get an invite to this tracker? I enjoy discovering new bands, and it looks like this is a good place to do so.
Edit: I read the end of the review, which said invites are given away freely, but it is hard to find members.

    Unique tracker.
Though I'm a member of this tracker just for few days I can add some information in addition to what has been said.

This site has great technical (code/programming) base. It has integration with discogs.com and last.fm, and it is very easy to add releases (upload torrents) you only need to type artist name and select the album\release from pop-up float window which contains information from discogs and 90% of the upload form will be auto-filled. When you browse torrents if you click on artist you can read short info about it and listen preview from last.fm.

Shellife has nice and welcoming community, though i have just joined it I have already made some friends there, and it feels like that everyone know each-other in this community. Looks like the core of this community has nice collection of CD's they ripped and uploaded to the tracker, because amongst usual scene releases and torrents "copied\moved\imported" from other trackers, shellife has exclusive torrents (which are actually marked so "exclusive", and you can't upload them to other trackers).

If you are listening non-mainstream music shellife is great tracker\community to participate in.

I found some good stuff on here. If you want to join this tracker, I'd recommend going to their IRC channel.
