Thread: Cinematik (CMK) Review

Cinematik is specialized in DVD (mostly) and BD/HD-DVD (not much) non-mainstream movies: art-house, classic, experimental cinema and so on. Staff itself position the tracker in such manner:
No "Hollywood" style blockbusters, mainstream or popular film that can easily be found on other trackers, unless said film has remarkable artistic value or merit.
Cinematik is the greatest tracker in this domain, it offers its users more DVDs than Karagarga or Cinemageddon. The tracker doesn't host any kinds of rips at all. All the films must have English audiotrack or subtitles. Exceptions can be made only for movies that have not be officially released in a version with English language or subs.
Invites are not given automatically at reaching any specific upload or experience - they may be asked in the forum. Another way to become a part of Tik is a simple interview in their IRC channel:

    #cinematik on irc.cinematik.net

During interview you'll be asked some questions concerning cinematography.
Although many torrents may be dead reseed requests work well - in this way even a year-old dead torrent can be resurrected.

Cinematik is original by its search not only by movie title but also by director. Autocompletion works in both of the fields.

    Summary

Cinematik is one of my favorite trackers. You might notice that tracker pages have no any advertisement. Tracker exists due to community donations only.
Rather often they run freeleech for movies related to any group, all the movies by chosen director for example, or films devoted to any particular topic. While holidays full freeleech may be gifted. When filling a request user gets some upload bonus. And if filling a staff member request you are to get a special bonus.

This is reason why I'm here. And one silly question to members: Is they uploading also a DVD extras (in my mind is Criterion Collection DVD releases)?

Yes, they prefer full untouched DVDs. If the original release contains several disks (one of them may be for extras only) they upload all the disks as a rule. Criterion releases are very welcome there, and now there are 875 Criterion releases on the tracker.

Sorry to probably go a little off-topic, but how does Cinematik compare to Karagarga? Maybe people who use both trackers have a consistent opinion about them?

    Thank you.

I thought registration on Cinematik is currently closed. Is there a way to get a special appliance form?

All you have to do is read the original post.

Initial impressions are. If you want pure untouched DVD images this is for you. If you want compressed files KG is a much better choice. However, KG also have the untouched ones (though they're generally less well seeded than their equivalents on TiK). The KG community is much larger than TiK it appears at first glance.

Shame on me, I overlooked that info.
Thanks for your comparison, Mercer! I think I will apply soon.

Trying to get on the IRC, I am totally confused. I've never done this before.

Has anyone ever scored an invite on the IRC before?
