Thread: TheGT (GT) Review

TheGT.net is one of the oldest Greek trackers out there and now-days is also one of the few still online. They have a big user database with approximately 58000 users (as of today) with about 17000 active torrents. The torrent that are being uploaded on the tracker are both from scene releases and also from its encoding teams (which allow me to say do some pretty good job). It has encoding teams for tv series, movie rips, HD-movie rips and music.

Being a new member on the tracker doesn't mean that you have to strive for keeping ratio, since almost all the HD content they offer is freeleech and also anything "famous/good" might be on a freeleech as well. Also there is some high activity on almost every new torrent added. They also offer many internal movie releases with either embedded (Greek) subtitles, or else given in a separate .srt file. Unfortunately bad news for new users is that the tracker currently uses the waiting time system, thus any new users will have to wait 48h before snatching any new torrent.

As for the invites. 1 invite is given on every member being promoted to Power User (unfortunately when being promoted to Super User you get none) and can also be bought (in packs of 2 per purchase) through the bonus system, though the price is kinda expensive (about 2000 seeding hours for just 2 invites). As an extra, VIPs are given invites when they donate. The tracker currently is considered to be invite only, with the invitation being open for specific amounts of time and for specific user classes each time (can be Power users and up, or VIPs and up).

Karma Bonus system

Nice review !!!

I am a member of this tracker and I believe that the users don't get 1 invite at the time of their promotion from user class to power user class (correct me if I am wrong). So in order to get 2 invites you have to exchange your bonus or donate.
Also, the tracket hasn't very fast speeds (I would rate the speeds 6/10), because there aren't a lot of members with seedboxes.
Finally, I have to mention that there is no english section at the forum (just headlines), but if someone will post a question in English there are people to help him and explain things in English.

After gamato.info and BWGT forced to closed, TheGT.net is the best greek tracker out there. The only con is that is a bit difficult to get in cause the low invites given to existed members.

I'm not sure if they changed the system, but when (long time ago) i was promoted to Power User i received 1 invite and i think i've read that you do receive an invite on Power user promotion.

I'll agree with you on that one, though keep in mind that any major release (through the internal release groups) always achieve very good speeds.

Buying invites used to be easier (only 150 karma points instead of 400), but due to the amount of users it has and the cost that arises from that, the staff decided to increase the amount of karma needed. I think that was a good thing, since that way a good tracker can also get some prestige. As for giving invites to existing members, there are no giveaways. Only VIP get invites during donation and up till some point in the past Users who were promoted to Power Users were getting 1 invite as well.

I am pretty sure you get 2 invites after you are promoted to power user. If you want more, via karma points.

What makes thegt unique imho, is the fact that there are quality translation groups, who release movies with embedded subtitles. Rumor has it that GTRD will be back soon.

GTRD is already back :) (at least they released 3 movies 2, 6 and 9 hours ago)

As for the invites.. bottom line is that you get some when promoted to Power User.

Paying to leech? Were exactly do you do that, cause i've been there for more than 3 years and i don't know anything about it.

Also pay for invites you say.. Could you explain that please... Anyone can get invites. And since it's an invite only tracker, they have left the privilege of inviting to the VIPs..

I really don't understand what you're trying to say...

Maybe you didn't get the concept. At this tracker they don't demand to pay in order to use the tracker and invite someone else, they jus ask for donates in order to support the tracker. This action turns a member into a VIP with some privilages such as bonus invites and the ability to give them anytime (or at least most of the time), that's all. If you still have a different opinion I'm convinced that you are one of these guys who try to spoil the image of this tracker, because everything you say just don't depict reality.
