Overview

It’s been a while since the tracker is reviewed and much have changed. I’ll try my part to help you get up to date about this tracker if you are not a member or to help you get to know this tracker better if it’s the first time you heard of it.

PTN is a ratioless tracker and a movie tracker at the same time. Although this is a small community tracker, its activities are quite the contrary. There’s a healthy database of torrents here with all kind of movie collections and well known TV-Show collections. If you are a fan of movie, you’ll be happy to be here.
Although the members are not watched by ratio system, they are still aware of their duty. PTN overall ratio speaks it all. Not like some other ratioless trackers, PTN does not restrict user’s downloading capacity (unlimited download slots). They encourage their user to download as it counts to user’s total traffic (something from which get you bonus). To prevent HnR, members are requested to seed the torrent for 72h within 7days after finishing download or get a 1:1 ratio on the torrent.

The page contains site announcements, site stats, polls as well as recent torrent activities (new added movies, update…) under thumbnails. A chat-box is also place here for quick communications between online members.

Torrent Categories
Like many movie trackers, PTN has many categories by movie genres, IMDB top rating packs, TV-Show… The numerous video formats also help you choose an appropriate release quality. You can search a movie by favorite genres, cross-checking them with video format…


Browse Page
In the browsing window like above, you can color releases by user class. This is a very cool feature, IMO. Near every torrent there’re icons indicated if the torrent has a bonus with it AND there’re also speed-indicator icons, they’ll tell you which torrent is in particular fast to leech, which one has low speed…

RequestPTN has a good movie request system with bounty for each filled request. Depending on the rarity of the movie, the amount of bounty could be insanely high :D


Upload
Best way to get those requests filled is to grant PTN members the ability to upload. PTN members can upload movies from their collection to share with the community or to fill a request to get the hefty bounty on it ;) The uploaded movies however have to meet uploading conditions (encodes, upload speed…). Movie soundtracks have a proper upload page to fill in album information just like at a music tracker.


User-basePTN is a small community with only 3000+ members. Recently, they have been recruiting rather frequently. New members must meet certain criteria in order to join. They usually ask you to prove your internet activities (P2P related as well as non-P2P).


User-class: PTN implements a pirate ranking system for its member. The promoting system is also different from other trackers and it is in a good way. Not like other trackers where the upload amount speaks your rank, here at PTN your download traffic counts too. You can get promoted to Deckhand by downloading 100GB and uploading 100GB (for a total traffic of 200GB) or by downloading 150GB and uploading 50GB… (You get the drift) At higher class you can earn special privileges (access to special forums, request invites…)



Forums

Despite being a small community, PTN forums are quite active. Members can talk about P2P related stuffs (torrents, software, hardware) as well as many social events (movie, music, sport…). If you are not very good at English, you’ll not feel left out as a foreign language forum is there!







Rules & FAQ PTN has many special rules regarding security of the site. For example, you’re not allow to public the site’s url; your address e-mail cannot be changed… Other than that PTN has a similar rule system like many other private trackers.

IRC: You can access to the site’s channel by your favorite irc client or via web-chat. Going to irc channel is a quick way to get helps, get gold and other PTN bonus related. Needless to say, irc is a cool place to chat too :p

Bonus: PTN has a bonus system with its bonus points called ‘gold’ or ‘diamond’. You get bonus by both downloading and seeding/uploading torrents. You get bonus by idling in IRC channel... Many torrents have double, triple bonus with it and maybe more. This bonus can be exchanged for special privileges or invites.

Just to clear potential issues up, PTN seems to have made rid of their abbreviation policy.
I can no longer find mention of it in the rules.

all in all the tracker is okay not hard to seed and pretty good content

Very easy to seed, speeds are not that great and the releases are not too fast either.

Still is a great tracker for people that have low speeds or don't care about how fast the movies are released.

So anyone know what's going on now that the site is down? Like "a good thing might come our way really soon"? Is this the redesign?

Maybe the V2...
At IRC they are saying that tomorrow the site will be up again

Yup V2 should be up pretty soon, its gonna be amazing ;)
