    Gfxnews.org | Gfx | Apps and eLearning (graphics) | 2010

Gfx.news is a specialty tracker for graphic designers, 3D modelers or anyone who deals in art and/or graphics. They focus on both the apps needed to produce various types of high quality artwork and the eLearning products necessary to learn how to use them. There are currently no invites handed out at Gfxnews however they do have open signups periodically and at times offer a randomly provided signup code on the signup page. In short if you know where they are you can make an account pretty easily. Don't let that fool you though, they are somewhat difficult to find and the content is really quite good, especially if you're into art or design type work. The site accepts donations and does not have a bonus sytem; the only ratio correction tools would be the donations. So far I've not had much trouble seeding so it should not be an issue as long as you don't go grabbing the old stuff first.

    NEWS:

    CATEGORIES:

    BROWSE:

Don't let the # of seeders/leechers here fool you. I grabbed one of the oldest pages so that it wasn't too obvious what day I grabbed it. You can see the # of total snatches and there are still a few folks keeping these older torrents alive.

    FORUMS:

Again, for my account protection I did edit out any information that would show when I grabbed these images. All of the forum threads are very active and every category but one had posts from the same day that I grabbed the image.

    RULES:

    PT 1

    PT 2

    USER CLASSES:

There are none to speak of, instead users have a Longevity timestamp to show seniorty and a post count to show activity.

    SOMETHING SPECIAL:

This tracker has a complete archive of every torrent ever there between 2000 and 2006 and will reupload dead torrents upon request. Anyone can vote and once a torrent reaches 50 requests it is reuploaded.

My quick stats 1= worst 10=best

    Tracker Longevity: 6
    Speed: 5
    Content (specialty): 8
    Community: 7
    Ease of seeding: 6
Overall difficulty to stay in good standing: 6
    Torrent Longevity: 7

    Hope this helps someone!

this site is incredible if you're a creative pro or just do it as a hobby. it has the most complete collection of photo/video/sound stock i've ever seen. the speeds are really good and they have decent rules to keep the garbage out.

a huge minus is they're willing to take your money for upload GB's. other people might not care about that kinda thing, but i think it's bullshit.

Clearly the best grafix,3d tracker out there. But the ratio system is ridiculous.
I dont advise it to someone new in the scene.

To bad, because specialty torrent sites like this one are always nice because they provide a particular need.

Completely agree, I've just registered in the last open signs and it's quite risky to download something you like, it could be quite hard to upload it back...

As I have some tutos I still haven't seen, I'm just waiting till I really need to download something :/

I love this site and, thankfully, I have not encountered any real problems with maintaining my ratio.

What I really don't like, however, is their practice of giving away hourly invites, to completely random, people whose intentions and objectives are unknown, at best ..rather then allow members to invite individuals they believe are deserving.. or let hopefuls apply via interview (like thevault or whatcd) and give them the opportunity to join the community based their merits..instead of dumb luck.
