It's nice to see so many people showing their appreciation for this site. I've been a member for the last 5 years and I gotta say this tracker is very recommended. Great speed, very easy to seed and mantain a good ratio and it's simple to find what you look for.
This is my absolute favorite tracker. It is not only great for US TV shows but for BBC & Australian as well. Set up the RSS feed and it is like your own DVR.
To automate my "DVR", I follow this process:
1) RSS feed from TVT.com, dumps in my "sources" file for Transmission
2) CRON job checks this directory for any file and adds .torrent to the end. All .added files are removed.
3) Transmission automatically starts the torrent
4) After Transmission finishes the download, it parses the Season and Episode from the file and moves it to the appropriate directory or creates the directory(ies) if needed.
5) XBMC updates the library every 2 hours - auto script
All I need to do is add a TV Show in TVT to my favorite and it will download it and get it stages in XBMC.
This site looks amazing and has an awesome collection of very well organized TV shows, but I don't see how its easy to build up credits with the current system. It seems like you have to constantly be on top of the incoming torrents to get early in to seed to the most popular ones. The fact that there is no credit for seeding torrents that no one is downloading plus the fact that people only partially seeding and looking like full seeders makes choosing files to seed limited only to new ones which die out very fast.
Is there a better way to do this? Cross seeding? I don't want to make building credit on this site a full time job, but I am happy to seed whatever I download for long periods of time. This works fine on every other site I use, but it seems TVT is gonna drive me insane trying to play this game of having to actively participate on a continual basis in order to build any significant level of credit.
Am I missing something?
I've found that it's easy enough to build up credit if you download full seasons of popular TV shows - stuff that never goes out of fashion, such as Firefly, Buffy, or certain reality TV shows. I've found I get more credit by keeping a couple of full seasons uploading than I do by trying to keep up with the new episode curve.
That said, I'm not a big TV downloader, so my version of "easy enough" might be different to yours.
