Thread: T-I needs to be a more happening town....

Hello to all my t-i loving members. The day when I came here on this forum I was literally amazed to see the hard-work of all the staff members doing here.Hats off to them.Getting the title as a staff is not a fun or pride but doing the hard work as a staff is more important.I took a month’s time getting connected with the forum’s working and I found it very balanced.(credit goes to all the admins working here).But I think the forum lacks one important event.I being working in the software industry for past 2 years would like to share with you one of my suggestions which is quite exciting as well as will make this place filled with more activity.
The most important thing my boss does is every month he chooses a member who has done excellent work for the company in all aspects. The prize is salary plus half salary as bonus. This makes my friends along with me to work hard for the company to get the prize. Similarly If the admins too selects every month some random number of members (2-3 according to me.Admins can have their own choice as how many to select) as the best members who have contributed to the forum interms of quality contents and who have made this forum a happening event. Please note that just giving away invites must not be considered as the main criteria. Though torrent-invites is mainly for giving invites I think it has other potentials too. Now coming back to the prize It’s highly impossible the prize would be in terms of money so what I suggest is that the winners may get a rep from the admin as a prize for contributing to the forums. I think this competition will also make ensure the staff as who are the most desired candidates for future staff promotion. This will also trigger a healthy competition among the moderator as they also will have to work hard as before because they would get a tough competition with normal t-i members. Now talking in terms of competition we can have some competitions like who has reported the most no. of spam posts in one month? Who has given the most no of invites in one month?Who has posted the max no of knowledgeable quality thread? etc......
I hope the staffs considers this post and think over it for a while as it would certainly help the community to become stronger and retain the no. 1 position as we are right now

We have The Exalted user class (member of the month) for the most hard working devoted members isn't that pretty much the same as what your suggesting?

Exalted is a very high reward given to very senior members here who have contributed in tons :).I am talking of just a healthy competition every month

What about Member of the month, where the community suggests users and one of them gets VIP status?

again we do have a member of the month and the reward is Exalted and yes it is an honor normally bestow on VIPS but I have seen regular member jump right to Exalted also

No disrespect to the current member of the month program, but the fact that the users vote on it makes it a popularity contest not a true barometer of worth. It should be only mods and admins voting.

Yes I too was suggesting that idea
@SB like I said earlier Exalted is too big reward for a fresher at t-i to receive.Infact this competition can help us to find exalted members

I in general like the idea but , the problem I see is that they have the Exalted and if we did your competition it would probably be 1 or the other not both. You couldn't have 2 member of the month 1 picked by peers 1 picked by mods. I think it would just separate community into clicks. And who's to say that staff wouldn't have picked Darander and Sam8cb? Both have given alot here. I just don't know how both could co-exist. Maybe just tweaking the rules of the current system would be better. Or maybe something like 25 igivers and 50 posts in 1 month or something like that IDK how but, I like the incentive idea. I don't like dividing community again in popularity contests.

Not sure how all this works now but, MOTM promotions used to be - one VIP to Exalted, and then one promotion of a member to VIP plus a staff selection if it was thought necessary.

As Jschro14 has quite rightly pointed out, public votes tend to become more of a popularity contest rather than being based on actual forum participation, the other problem is the turn over of members - we get so many new people that we tend to get a lot of "sheep" voting.

Perhaps we could incorporate something into the existing MOTM system - keep the one VIP to Exalted, one member to VIP and then perhaps as Basket has suggested a set amount of Rep for X amount of runners up, but also come up with a set of things people should consider when voting along with locking the poll so no comments on who has voted for whom can be made.
