It´s a simple question: if a thread is closed, why still there?
I was looking for example on the seedbox GA, and i saw a thread with 2 answers, looked very that it was closed. And it is. The winners should be pm'ed to know that they won, so why this type of closed threads at all boards are still available to see? Seems to me just filling space and luring some members, just my 2 cents.

if a thread is closed you can not post in it so do not see how it is luring members and we need to keep them visible so that people know if an issue has been discussed before so that they do not create dupe posts

Better to have them and not need them, then need them and not have them.

They are probably there for reference. It doesn't hurt to see old posts if you are looking at a user's history.

peeps need to see those "closed giveaways" when they do a background check on someone. it would be weird if an iGiver leads to nowhere

Yes, the two posts above me answered your question quite well. One of the main reason is for checking a user's history. The other is to compile a massive archive so T-I stands at the top on specific search engines. More posts/threads makes for more traffic to the site.
