Thread: FTN & HDBits.org Requests

I saw a suggestion to the effect of limiting who can ask and I'm extremely grateful staff shot that thing down!! My suggestion is far easier and I believe would solve the problem that poster was addressing. I too would LOVE a invite to FTN but, I have not posted a request for it. Not because I feel unworthy as that poster seemed to feel. But because I can only have 2 open requests and I have other desires that are obtainable and once they are aquired I will post 1.

My suggestion to unclutter the request section AND to most likely make it easier for some1 who has an invite to these very coveted trackers is simply make a sub thread. Similiar to how our invite section is in Area51 ie 10%, 33%, and 55%. I suggest we simply have a specific thread for either HDbits.org and FTN together or separate. The fact is is that it will take a decade to fill the requests we already have in there and by the end of the month we will have 50 more . So the Area 51 mods just make a section/thread for FTN requests. That will keep the regular request section moving at a much faster pace and save people with invites from scrolling through page after page looking for a qualified applicant to Waffles or Torrentleech etc.

I've been saying for a while now that these type of trackers just need to be on a list and made as a sticky.

Once a user has an invite, they can just go to that sticky thread and see who is on it.

This sticky would be managed by a moderator and everyone who wants to be added, should PM those moderators and they will be added.

There are similar lists all around this forum.

I'm hoping HDBits will give out invites during the holidays, if I am lucky enough to qualify for one, it will be nice to have "One" place to go to see who all the candidates are.

I don't agree with it, seems like putting those two trackers in a pedestal when they are no different from the others. Besides, requests for TL, Waffles or almost any other easier to get tracker are usually filled before the first bump, it isn't like the others threads are in their way.

These two trackers are already on a pedestal whether people want to admit it or not by virtue of how rare an invite is.

There are several of requests for these trackers that are over 3 pages long that are bumps.

The staff should just make a list, thas the username, invite requested and the date they requested the invite.

Well, we have a list on the VIP forum, and i guess this is where most of the requests get filled. But anyways, i think it can be the way it is. there is no need to sort them. People giving ftn invites, only look at those requests and so on.

But can any1 suggest harm in doing this? No . Can any1 suggest benefit?

Yes. More work in moderation shoulder to keep track of who received or who doesn't and make sure the posts are edited when someone gets the invite, trouble of dealing with the now forbidden requests that are opened and no possibility to know who is already talking with a possible inviter.

The current system also doesn't harm anyone, with requests for easier trackers getting filled in less than a week, most of the times, minutes or hours.

I agree with this there should be some sort of extra place to hold these sort or requests.I'm sure Vegas had thought of something before this suggestion was made but nothing has been implemented yet,so lets just wait and see,But I like this idea.

I agree with this i think there should be a separate subforum or sticky threads just for those two trackers it will clear a lot of clutter on the request page and make it look a lot cleaner, and with people bumping there threads all the time just brings up those two trackers up to the top and people who are requesting other trackers just get pushed back.

In reality most people only look up to the 3rd page maybe if not only the first 2 then fall back i'm almost sure of this, and if you count the first to second pages on the request thread 80% of them will be to these two trackers.
