    Default Trusted User tag

Ive been getting banned from trackers i belong to lately and in following up with a recent invite request, the inviter explained that they invited someone else and before the inviter got banned as well they saw that the person before me was banned. More than likely its a ban tree of invitees. Sorry if that sounds complicated. I can explain further.

Is there a way we can come up with a "trusted" member tag somehow? It would be easier for us as inviters to give out the invites if we knew the ppl were trustworthy.

I do not know how this could be implemented but I would be willing to brainstorm is need be.

    Thanks for the look.

This would be somewhat not useful seeing as how the "Trusted" members are any user that has met the following:

75 posts + 20 reputation + 14 days = access to '55% Giveaways' in the 'Give Invites' section & you are allowed to respond to other people's introductions.

In 14 days time a new user can easily make 75 good non spam posts to which he would most likely recieve 20 thanks with ease. The same user can be a trader, seller, scammer.

I say this is the inviters responsibility. We are suppose to check up on any potential invitee as is. So no for me on this suggestion. Sorry.

    *Edit*

Also if this is more of a "Let's mark the users who have been known to be good for others" then it's a definite no as this doesn't mean that one user is far superior to another. Everyone is different.

you think cheaters wouldn't get the "trusted" member tag? hahahaa. so naive.

it's your job to spot the bad apples.

next time give the invites to a guy that you have spoken to in the IRC or get a few profile links and if he cheats, make sure EVERY tracker knows the cheaters name.

Hi Trackart, as Enigma and Imagine have already been pointing out, it's the inviter's responsibility to do the necessary research and take precautions; if you want useful tips on how to do this, check out my guide: http://www.torrent-invites.com/give-...way-guide.html

Im not naive, im just posting a suggestion. I have other trackers im a part of so getting banned from a few dont really matter. I did get banned from gft and btn tho which kinda sucks but still i have others to get from. And i can always recycle my ip in desperate times but those shouldnt come for a while.

Thanks again for the look. You can close this thread.

Just read Trevors post and its "the next guy" that gets screwed be cause the original inviter might not have done their homework. as this whole torrenting thing is uneasy as it is. The only true way to get invited to any trackers is through friends of that tracker not on tracker invite sites so I guess we are all looking down the barrel of a gun per se.

--- "trust"/ "trusting people" on the internet and especially in the BT world is a kindergarten concept, for those of us who are still believing that Santa is real. I mean yeah, at some point, we can talk about some sort of "Trust", after hours spent in the IRC channels talking, you watch people's action on the site... stuff like that... you can say, that somehow, you get to "know" that person.

--- as Enigma78 said we already have the "Trusted" giveaways section, but anyone meeting those requirements can get there... even cheaters/ scammers/ traders. I mean check the banlist, to see that there are people there with good time spend here on T-I, lots of iGivers, reputation -- > you know, the stuff that would make you "trust" them... you really think a Tag next to their name would stop them, or reveal their true nature....Think of the fact that they got in, got their reps, and iGivers, knew the rules.. and they still went rogue... we're only humans, so anyone is expected to f**k up things at some point.

As said before, as an inviter, you need to do a background check on your potential invitee, verify his location with speedtests, look at his intro, check his posts, igivers record, ask for ratioproofs and confront them to profile links.

Don't hesitate to leave a neutral or negative igiver, put him on the chopping block if he's been banned for cheating...

Unfortunately, losing accounts goes with the territory where invite forums are concerned. The invites come easily, but those accounts are often just as easily lost. I've found that if you get involved with the your favourite niche tracker, we all have content we favour, invites to other trackers come just as easily, but without the added stigma of invite forums. For example, What, PtP and BTN, all easy to enter trackers, have fairly decent recruitment/invite forums. Invites are handed out even more freely on the Elite and higher forums.

As for a trusted user tag, Everyone is pretty much in agreement that they would be pointless. They could even do more harm than good as they would lull members into a false sense of security when dealing with "trusted" users. Also, keep in mind that some of the most "trusted" members here have been exposed to be massive invite sellers/traders and well known cheaters.

Well trusted does not actually need to mean that that person receives a title from someone. It can be something like reputation and how they behave on other trackers. Let's say.. after you reach a "complete" reputation, the next step would be optional like the ones who want this title to ask a certain MOD or someone appointed by the staff to check their progress on the trackers they got in through Torrent Invites.

After that they are trusted ..

This is an example. But other rough criteria can be implemented for a user to be trusted.

in that case, t-i would have MAYBE 10 trusted members (+ t-i staff).
do you know how many people actually archive the "complete" status? not many. 1000 posts is a lot in any forum. half of the members get bored or they don't find time for t-i, so they fall out. then there are the jackasses that get banned. there are a lot of them here, A LOT I SAY.
