Default Cleanup of the Seedbox Discussion Forum

Ok so I am probably a bit biased here as I am an advertiser in this section but I feel its gotten completely out of hand with the amount of spam in that section.

Every 2/3 posts is somebody trying to either sell their own service or someone posting an affiliate link trying to get a kickback from their service provider.

I suggest the following which of course are open to discussion:

    1. We appoint an unbiased moderator to monitor the garbage threads and move any reveiws to the appropriate section.

    2. I know this ones gonna get a lot of flack but I suggest that only the members who have paid for an active subscription to a sticky post be allowed to advertise in this forum. Those of us who have a sticky thread tend not to spam the threads as we know users will read our threads anyways and make decisions from there. Those who want to spam the forums with advertising can pay for it, this will also pump more revenue into supporting T-I.

I do think there can be the exception for users who have purchased a dedicated to themselves and want to share the cost. I have no issues with this but this should be monitered for companies disguising themselves in this way.

In conclusion, I browse this forum not to push people towards my service but to help people out who have questions about seedboxes and how they work/safety etc. I am just getting very sick of every thread turning into a "TRY MY SERVICE" "No, These guys are better *affiliate link here*" threads.

    Thats my rant/suggestion.

  2. To remove ads become VIP. Inquire about advertising here.

    I agree with this.
And I know I am guilty of doing it myself..although I try to avoid pushing a certain service onto a user, I will be honest with my experience with that provider.

And I also try my best to only talk about services I have tried before as I have used several, but I know many people are definitely repping a certain provider for their own good.

Gamestuff, there are already moderators for that section - they are called Think Tank Moderators.

In regards to the no advertising rule, we used to have something like that. I'm not sure why, but Dave lifted that rule. I'll talk to him and find out why. It's possible we may re-implement it but I can't promise you anything.

Sorry I didn't mean any disrespect to those guys, the think tank is a very large very busy part of the forum and to be honest the seedbox section is full of alot of useless posts. I'm just not sure its getting the love it deserves sometimes but Honestly if i was a moderator I would stay away from there just due to the sheer volume needed to clean it up.

    Thanks for your time. :)

If there are legitimate spam posts you can report them and myself or another Think Tank Mod will gladly remove them for you.

As to what JustJenna has said if everyting is a okay with Dave I'll start removing what needs to be removed (as I am sure the rest of the Think Tank Mods will too). Personally there is a lot of threads through out the entire Think Tank that I want to remove.

I don't think this is the issue beign raised. There is nothing wrong in my opinion with someone who is legitimately expressing their thoughts on a certain company. I would hope it's done of course due to experience with that company.

However when you have not used the place and say stuff like "Thanks I'll have to try them" that is spam and it is not needed. I would rather see user experience and legitimate questions being asked than the previous statement I just made an example of.

    EDIT

If anything I am wondering if we could make a sub-forum specifically designed just for those who wish to promote there seedbox companies provided we are not allowed to remove them. This would reduce the clutter in there. Although I think those who promote should have to pay for the sponsorship personally.

Also if there are any affiliate links they should be removed especially if a user is benefitting off of it for referring users.

I don't think this will work, problem being someone will post a thread saying, "how do i upload torrents" and half the replies are "you can only upload torrents at "myseedboxcompany.com"

the problem is legitimate threads are becoming spam of advertising. I think by having people need to pay to advertise and only be able to post links in their specific sticky thread we will eliminate this. Plus TI advertises from hopefully more users becoming willing to pay. I am not opposed to competition but i feel if people want to spam TI with advertising, make them pay for it. :)

Ive been thinking about this section alot lately and was thinking of sub forums for the section example

keep the paid sticky's at the top of the sub forums and possibly changing the colour of there threads to stand out that little bit more for Ex red pretty sure it can be done and have the following sub forums underneath

    Seedbox Reviews
    Seedbox help
Seedbox providers (where members who own a seedbox company can still offer there services)

All other threads related to try this seedbox company they are good would be deleted for example

Gamestuff brings up some excellent points. I'm leaning towards Enigma & Choppers' solution of creating a new subforum for free ads (Seedbox Advertising). We can even create stuck redirects for paid advertisers in that new subforum that will redirect users back to their primary sticky in the main discussion forum. That way paid sponsors will actually have two stickies.

Anyone disagree? If not, we can create that subforum and ask the Think Tank Mods to start moving all the free ad threads tonight.

I still think advertising should be paid only. This would support TI as well as keeping the fly by nighters off the boards. Anyone who runs a business properly has budgeted for the advertising sure it's nice to not have to spend it but honestly the advertising cost here is dirt cheap for the exposure.

We already have a no advertising in signature unless your paying for a sticky rule. I think it should be expanded to no advertising period unless you pay.

Problem I have is alot of legit threads are turned into "buy from us" threads from spamming.

but isnt the current seedbox section exactly as choppers stated? The review subsection is there, providers have their stickies and then everything else should in theory fall under seedbox help. Adding three subsections wouldn't really change anything. I liked the old rule where you had to pay to advertise since you knew the people advertising where the ones who were serious about their seedbox business (not that those who don't advertise are not). It would also be less work to keep it how it is and delete those threads that are just "buy from us".
