One step at a time. I figure an interim step to completely eliminating free threads is by isolating them in a new subforum. That provides preferential treatment to paid sponsors (sticky in main discussion forum + stuck redirect in the new subforum) and it pushes the "fly by nighters" down a level. Plus it provides an outlet for legit dedi users that are looking for someone to share their box with.
@Gamestuff - Can you provide a few examples of legit threads taken oven by free advertisers? I noticed some of threads are fairly pointed. e.g. "Who is the best seedbox company?" I expect something that open would be hard not to reply to, but does the spam extend to neutral threads?
One concern of mine are people creating dupe accounts to spam their service by pretending to be happy customers. If that happens we'll ban all of the accounts involved and add that domain to our auto-block filter. Plus we could block "Starting" member access to the seedbox forums so only 10% or above have posting privs. How prevalent is the abuse?
