Default Disable post counting in off-topic

It´s just a suggestion, for what i´ve seen is where the spam spreads a little bit more.

we had a poll recently whether or not we should disable the post count in the ENTERTAINMENT section (where most of the spammers lived). as far as i know, around 75% (correction: 50%) agreed to disable the counter.

but for the rest of the sub-forums under OFF-TOPIC category, i wouldn't disable the post count. yes, half of the posts are spams, but not nearly as much as the ENTERTAINMENT section has.

in reality, there are other places that should be dealt with BEFORE picking on the off-topic section again. like the OPEN TRACKERS section. you can't even imagine how much spam there is. half of the posts there are "thank you's", "just joined", "nice find" or 10 midgets in a row reporting that the tracker has been closed. i mean, is it so hard to look at the few posts there are, before posting. dunno.

Wow, didnt notice that yet, then shut it down for open trackers board. That, or send pm to those users, warning just 1 time.

i keep my threads clean, either PM-ing the noob to delete his post or use the REPORT POST button (if noob doesn't do anything or his 10% and he can't delete his pointless post).

what's funny is that i use capitals and bright colors to warn them, that they are spamming, but they still do it. :D

    smth like this:
"THANK YOU" AND "JUST JOINED" POSTS ARE CONSIDERED AS SPAM !!!

I think this is a bad idea.

Off-Topic is where you get to know fellow members of T-I.

Ya, this is a bad idea. Why would you disable post count where most people post the most? This whole community is based around a forum and disabling post count in a certain topic is stupid.

But what makes u stop knowing each other just because de post count is disabled? It´s the same thing, if your objective is really to know better the other members. Just my 2 cents.

It doesn't make you stop posting.

However, the forum where you get to know people here = to the forum where a lot of posts will be made.

It would be odd to disable post counts in that section.

Also, doing this would kind of be insinuating that folks were only there to pad their stats.

It is true that a forum is based upon posting messages.
However the true purpose of a post count in the stats is to see how much a user contributes to the forum. And 'contribute' I mean in the true meaning of the word. To contribute to the general community is to post messages/articles/threads that are relevant. Relevant can be seen broadly. 'Relevancy' can be really useful information about a tracker or such, but it could also be very entertaining..

The fact is that this post-count does motivate to contribute to the forum. There are sections where the contribution-factor is more obvious (intro, news, help/supp, GA,..). There are other sections where contribution i less obvious but on a big forum like us entertainment and links are necessary to keep us going. To much of just only torrent this and torrent that wouldn't leave enough room for other serious life discussions..

On the other hand we see that the system gets abused.. For me, there are two category's: The plain fools who write stuff like: 'lolthanxgoodbye'. We spot them real easy and one warning message from the threadstarter or a mod is usually enough. Second category are the hidden spammers. Those who write an answer but without any content, any meaning, nor any personal opinion on the matter. In my opinion this is really bothering me. When you start a serious discussion or ask for help or anything these posts are just annoying.

I like the motivation from IMAGINE, that he cleans his threads from these posts, but those just shouldn't be there in the first place.

Putting some postcount restrictions on some sections maybe would decrease the general posting on the forum, but would increase the amount of quality-posts..

    Just my humble opinion
