The site should have an option to not upload the avatar you select to site (if it is just a link to picture). This would allow dynamic avatars that change on every reload.
I like this idea as I've seen some tracker do this for those who wish to have several avatars on a rotation, however I don't think it's something really needed. Also I am sure they have there reasons for having the system as such.
