    Default Tracker Checker Suggestion

There were a few threads that mentioned tracker checker as a tool to find trackers that currently have open registrations and I wanted to show you a screenshot of what mine looks like after I literally put in countless hours of work entering all the trackers I could think of (unfortunately this program contains approx 20 trackers when first installed and it's up to the end user to enter in the majority of the tracker information)

    It now looks like this:

As you can see the sites that have a green check mark along the side of it are trackers that are currently having open registrations for a limited time. I am sure when I run this again some will not have the check mark next to it and other will have them. A nice tool to find out which sites are open to registration on a limited time basis.

My question or perhaps suggestion is this:

Since I put quite a bit of time in entering the various sites to this application (which was very tedious work I might add) and as a result have the actual trackers.xml file located in my directory which contains all the data that was entered, what are people's thoughts on having me upload the trackers.xml file to somewhere like Mediafire or Rapidshare so that other members who would like to install this application would have the ability to configure it very quickly and not have to put in the tedious man hours to get it like I have it now. That is one of the downsides of thsi program: it doesn't come pre-configured with a significant amount of trackers. I think this could be useful to some members as I have seen discussions regarding this program and almost always ends with nobody wanting to configure it as it would take too much time. But seeing how I have already done most of the work, I thought I would bring this to everyones attention to see if any interest would come of it. As new trackers come about it is fairly easy to add it the program. But adding hundreds of trackers to it...well that is a different story all together.

    Any thoughts on this?

Perhaps a sticky containing the trackers not included by default and their respective configurations would be a good idea. That way other users can put other trackers into the list. That app checks for regex, am I mistaken? You could also write a mini-tutorial along with it on how to properly write the configs.

i don't think you have visited their website > trackerchecker.com.

it has an online checking system also, much like t-i's opentrackers.net, but that's not caught my attention. on top of the page is THE NEWS: they are beta testing V3.
you could upload the trackers list, but i'd wait until the v3 is out. maybe it's got a bigger list (most probably) and a few more tweeks (like online list updater or smth). xD

That might be a good idea. In a nut shell, you basically input the tracker's register or signup URL regardless of whether it is currently allowing new members join. In fact those trackers that seem to be always at their limit of users or say that they do not plan on having open signups anytime in the near future are the ones you should really have on this application. Think about it, how many time have you heard from other people or read somewhere that a certain tracker would be opening registrations for a day or so only to have missed the invitation process? This application runs in real time and would be notifying you when you are abe to register regardless if it was made known to the public or not. So the more trackers in the apps database the better off you are.

For example if you wanted to enter the tracker: revolutiontt.net, you would need to first verify what the actual signup URL is and type that address (http://www.revolutiontt.net/signup.php) into the application.

What takes the most time when entering all this info into this application is that you have to find out the exact register/signup URL of every tracker you want the application to monitor and finding that information can be difficult at times. Not all trackers URLs end with either /signup.php or /register.php. There are quite a few trackers out there that do not have predictable signup URL addresses.

Case in point: I entered in xtremespeeds.net but it took me a while to find out what the URL would be when this tracker had open registration (currently it is at its max in membership). After researching a bit on the internet I found out that the signup URL was:

    xtremespeeds.net :: Sign Up For a Free xtremespeeds.net Account

After you enter in the correct signup URL of any particular tracker you must then also type in a string of words or a phrase that must be on that particular tracker's signup page because this is how it lets the application know that the tracker is currently accepting signups. Some typical phrases or string of words that are usually on the signup pages of trackers are phrases such as:

    • Desired username
    • Retype password
    • Confirm password
    • Email Address
    • Confirm email

Perhaps if anyone is interested I will write up a more specific, step by step tutorial explaining how this application works and just how reliable it is if you enter in the exact information needed. I can also then provide the trackers.xml file which has all the configured data that I had entered in manually for each tracker (approx 120 trackers listed) so that no one EVER has to enter in that info manually again...it was a BITCH to do.

Very good point...I had seen their site before but not lately and as you said they are coming out with a new version. The one thing that I thought was limiting about trackerchecker.com is that you aren't able to add additional trackers to it and thus are pretty much limited to what the site has listed and confined to those trackers. But perhaps they have some new things in store for us.

    Thanks for the advice.

Some trackers have open sign-up via IRC application/invite. In this case wouldn't you miss the opportunity to sign up?
Missing since March 3rd: If anyone has heard from our Japanese friend Oki, and knows if he is okay, please PM JustJenna. Thank you.

yes, you would miss the open sign-up. but that's not what those programs are meant to do. they search specific words in the sign up pages (like open/username/password ect). if there's a match, it will notify you.

t-i's own opentrackers.net has somewhat a similar code running it. you wouldn't know about the IRC signups. IRC stuff is in its own category (just like the publicly released invite codes some trackers have), which you have to find out yourself, either from sites like this or from your friends.

Since OP is banned, and can no longer assist with this type of project - and since we already have a similar themed site - I'm gonna say no.
