Default editting out tima stamp in ratio proofs

    Hi,
it occured to me that it may be a good idea to require/emphasize editting out any time/date stamps present on ratio proofs. This is to reduce the chance of successfully parsing time of posting, tracker login time and the additional data partially visible on ratio proofs. Let us not forget that servers keep logs :)

    Cheers,
    M.

this was once required and after careful consideration was dropped as a requirement for intro.

Shadow is correct. This was once a requirement that was made optional because of the amount of effort it would take for a tracker to attempt to correlate a time stamp with the server logs. There are 24 time zones so they would need to verify your zone first, then adjust for the server time, cross reference with several other variables and hope all of their assumptions were correct. Even a minor issue like running a speed test from a server in a neighboring state / province or daylight savings time could throw off the calculations.

We've found that trackers are far more likely to use other easier and more reliable methods to track users. E.g. The CSS exploit listed in our announcement section.

To your point, it wouldn't hurt to add this as an optional suggestion in our rules. Other optional suggestions include:

    1) asking invitees to wait a few days / weeks before leaving igivers (esp for higher level invites)
    2) covering quantity of PMs on proofs
    3) completely covering download quantity so only a partial upload / ratio remain
    4) breaking larger giveaways into multiple smaller giveaways. Ie three GFT x 5 invites instead of a single 15x giveaway
