Default Closing Old Un-updated Invite Thread

Another thread from me (I hope it's useful enough). I want to suggest that admins are permitted to close Old Invite Thread from Inactive thread stater because:
    - I have seen several new user replying to old thread because maybe they are looking for specific sites, searching and came upon an old thread by not looking for the date.

    - Suggested requirement for closing an old thread is maybe if the TS is inactive for 3 months already (no posts and no visits) and the thread date is aged for 3 months or last post count is from 3 months ago.

    - A closed thread can be re-opened by the TS with sending PM to active admins here.

While it maybe too much work for admins but isn't the admins are relaxed nowadays especially after we got some new blood :001_tongue:

I hope it can be considered because we will have tidier invite forum in the future. :001_smile:

Nice idea, but for suggestion, I don't know. Everyone knows this is a utopistic thing. A good idea would be to make everyone a giveaway slot, so everyone would have ONE giveaway thread, thus the thread's up-to-dateness would be guaranteed. Especially cause they plan on making one big invite section instead of the low-mid-trusted system. I think that way padding postcounts with lots of unique giveaways would be restricted, also the forum would be much cleaner.

    Cheers.

    @sasuke yeah i m with you buddy
--Closing old thread is a good option.

--also closing giveaways of banned banned member should be their because they get banned ho w they can give giveaway.

--@mustang one giveaway thread thread should not be worked out because many time inviter get invite different diffrent times and if he have 1 giveaway how would always closing old give away and oping new give away to give so today's system is great and working perfectly so no need to be changed..

Ya but you shouldn't have the admins do it. That's a boatload of work. Best thing to do is have the system deal with closing/locking threads when it reaches a specific period of time. Say a month of inactivity or three months of being open.

It should be the responsibility of the thread starter ie; the person giving out the invites to close out the thread once all invites are depleted. A good idea is to probably subject the ones that neglect to do so to some form of negative infraction or something in that nature because no one should have to go behind you picking up your mess.

@ Hellrizer: You seriously misunderstood me. I meant about anyone would have ONE thread, and edit it accordingly to his/her actual spare invites. No closing or opening... Perhaps when you don't have anything to share.

I came across a giveaway thread today, where the guy was offering 20x40 gb and had given them out, and said "that's it- I have none left" but forgot to close the thread.

So I went to the thread and it was just a waste of my time. It would have been better if it had had closed written on it. BUt it definitely shouldn't be up to the mods to go up to each thread and check them and close them.

For users as well, time is a really important factor in the whole equation. For example, with the Bit-HDTV giveaways you have to get 7 giveaways (of 300 credits each) before you have 2000 credits. At Bit-HDTV 2000 credits can be swapped for 20 Gb upload credit. So if you think about the amount of time it would take to earn those 7 giveaways: first of all you have to keep checking threads, because in some of them: the credits have already been given out, so there's a lot of checking and dead-ends and more checking, but also you have to write the replies and send pms and give igiver
    and it all adds up

    time is money

so even if someone is on McDonalds wages per hour he or she might as well just get a seedbox for a month and save himself the time he would have spent going after those giveaways, because with a seedbox he get those 20 Gb straight away onto his ratio and a lot more.

However, I think if the person giving the giveaway were to be punished for not closing the thread, then, whilst that might motivate him or her to close the thread, it might also act as a motivation not to bother giving stuff away in the first place.

Generally, there's some inefficiency in the different parts of the system (and not just here - other websites as well). E.g. if I give iGiver I have to track down the thread to get the URL, and it could be easier - the computer could automatically tell me what the thread was. But overall these problems in the site don't overcome the fact this is the easiest way to get invites on the web. Generally the system is very beneficial all-in-all.

ok dude i got you now..

--but you see many time we have to bump our thread and if we have only one the the clutter of bumps should be increased as always instead of that if we open fresh thread our invite would be surved/give awayed so easyly...what say..?

I also think it would be useful to be able to hide close threads when you are browsing the forums, especially when you are looking for invites giveaways or competitions, if they are closed the thread is useless.

No, we are not "relaxed." I find this comment to be a gross under-appreciation of the work I, and the rest of the staff, put into this forum. Bringing in new mods has helped alleviate some of the grunt work, but that just means I have to spend my time on other tasks. There is a ton of work to be done around here.

This suggestion is already on a list of tasks to be completed. However, it is a very low priority and I am not certain when, if ever, it will be completed. There are simply too many more important things that take priority.
If people would close their own threads, as they are supposed to do when a giveaway is completed, this type of work would not even be necessary.
