Thread: Dupe Account checker

I remember reading on one of the previous intro updates that intro mods have access to a feature of some kind in which through they can tell if someone has dupe accounts here at T-I. Since only 55% and up can work in intro, I suggest that this feature be opened up to all 55% and above members.



Doing so will help users who help out in the intro to weed out those who have been banned here before, and to prevent those users from joining again. I am not sure as to whether or not this may be a security breach if we allow all 55% and up members to work in the introduction section(because it may require accessing the MYSQL database, which holds all usernames/passwords/posts/threads/and maybe ips). If it isnt, shouldnt this tool be available to 55% and up members?

This suggestion can either be implemented by the admins, or shot down by the admins. I would say the greatest concern for this is the possible security breach, but if that is not the case, I don't see any problems with this.

Honestly I dont think there is any point to have this tool opened up to anyone else because in all honesty intro mods being able to see this doesnt really do much because that is all we can do is look at it and that is it. Also the detector is not always completely accurate with saying it has a dupe account. Sometimes it will flag someone but there is an explanation for it. By this information being opened up to everyone from 55% and higher it will only most likely increase the amount of pms that will go to staff and alot of them will most likely be repeat reports on the same introduction. also as soon as someone's name is seen on that dupe detector people will be either more tempted to groan a introduction or just plain all reject it.

Right now with just the intro mods having access to this I think it is enough because that way we can try and minimize the amount of pms going to staff and that way when they check the IP and decide what they want to do. Do they ban or not to ban or is there an explanation.
