This has been suggested and shot down already. The problem that arises is that when you tell someone you've applied elsewhere, they assume you'll get the invite from the other inviter and pass you over. It significantly lowers the applicant's chances of receiving the invite, and that is just unfair.
However, when an applicant receives the invite, it is good form to remove his application from other giveaways. We are considering making this a rule, but at the moment we simply do not have the man power to police every members application behavior. Hopefully, this will change soon, but for the moment the status quo will have to do.

bump ! ( in hope it will be implemented )...
I think this would cause more problems than it would solve. I always assume that members applying in my giveaways are going to apply elsewhere too. That just makes sense. The more places they apply, the greater the chance of success.
A simple solution is for the inviter to send a confirmation PM shortly before using the invite.
