When a midget doesn’t belong to any tracker we ask them to provide their bittorrent stats, but they don’t get to show us they know how to edit a proof, A lot of those who do have proofs have no idea how to edit them and can take several goes before they get it right, those who have no proofs miss this learning experience and in fact have an easier entry into T-I, which of course is not a bad thing but not knowing how to edit a proof could put themselves and others at risk.

    1. My suggestion is that the new torrenter with no proofs, edit a proof we supply or we could have them join a tracker and use that as a proof. This would give them the experience and knowledge of how to edit a proof and would give some exposure to opentracker

When a midget has been reped in there needs to be some way of informing the mods of this so the intro can be closed and moved.

    2. A thread is created (ie reped users) , when someone reps a midget in they leave a post with the midgets name, a mod could then move the intro and delete the rep informing post.

Yes it is a valuable skill, and I've noticed it overlooked a lot of the time with people posting their utorrent stats or whatever. I'm leaning towards your #1 Idea though. Have them join a tracker in opentracker and edit the proof and show us. I think that is a valid and good solution. I've contemplated this myself, the sister site gets attention and the midgets learn how to edit a ratio proof. Everyone wins! =)

I agree with Synth. It's best if we direct them to Open Trackers and have them join any of the trackers listed. We don't want to supply any old sample because the whole point of a ratio proof, aside from showing their stats, is to see what kind of favorites they have, what tabs are opened, what programs are running in their taskbar and active in their system tray. It'll just make things easier for scammers if we do supply them a proof to edit.

As for your second suggestions, yes, a thread with just the names of those accepted or rejected should suffice. I was thinking about creating another IRC channel, but realized not all active intro-ers use IRC so a thread is probably the most likely scenario while managing another channel would be a waste of time and resource. Unless... a script is already in the works?

i love this idea, and we should have them join an open tracker for a week or so to show they know how to use it "or learn it in that time" are there any open trackers that dont have freeleech torrents? we can use those for midgets.

Well maybe not the freeleech part but a certain amount of time spent there couldnt hurt.

Great posts guys and great suggestion Freedom

I really like this idea and I think I will add another suggestion on top of this to get some more attention. Based on what country they come from, we as intro interviewers should have the discretion to ask whether or not they are aware they their country is banned from certain trackers. I believe this would cut down on people getting banned because they didn't know their invitee was from a certain banned country.

I'm sorry Freedom, but no. We are not going to force people to join trackers before they join T-I. Some of our best people got their start at T-I and I see no harm in allowing it to continue that way. Also, the point of T-I is not to teach people how to edit ratio proofs. It's hard enough for members to get into this forum now; we are not going to make it harder. The intro section does not exist as a way for us to teach people how to edit their proofs. They can read the tutorial section for that. If anything, I am considering lightening the restrictions on ratio proof editing - too many people are getting frustrated and giving up because they forgot to cover the time in their Demonoid proof and couldn't figure out what they did wrong. This is unacceptable.

In regards to forcing members to sign up at an open tracker for a time, before joining our forum - again I must say a firm no. I do not see how this benefits the forum at all. We need to be bringing more members in, not sending them away. Forcing people to go away for a while, before they come back, is a good way to see our numbers drop.

Whilst this idea is sound in theory, its not so good when it comes down to the practice of it. We have tried this before, and when suggesting to people to join an open tracker just to provide a proof it wasn't met very well by the applicant. Bear in mind that when they apply, they are usually here because they are looking for something specific. If you ask them to join a tracker they are not really interested in, chances are they will not bother progressing any further with their intro and just go elsewhere, which is not good for us.

As for checking to see if they know whether their country is banned from certain trackers, to be honest that's more down to the inviter and invitee than it is to the intro workers. It's just making more unnecessary work .
