Thread: 10% members ranking up

Hi guys,

Everyday, I log on to TI, browse the forums, maybe enter a giveaway. As much as I can, I try to contribute useful information, and help others. I'm sure everyone on TI has somewhat of a similar routine. But for lower ranked members (eg. 10%), they might find it hard to get reputation for these good deeds, simply because no one who wants to can actually give them any.

I'd believe that iGiver points aren't given enough attention compared to lets say rep. Lets have a scenario where a 10% member works the Low Level Giveaways, giving away iPT, PTM, etc. He builds up a decent number of iGivers, but when he gets to the Mid Level giveaways, he finds himself overwhelmed by the posters who share rare trackers receiving countless amounts of rep, while his giveaways, though in good intention, receives none. We use rep as a criteria when moving up ranks, which is good as it promotes good habits in members.

But rep at the same time, is found in the most obscure of places. For example, in one of my threads a fellow member repped me. I was pleased, as I had put into a great deal of effort working on it. But I was mindboggled after later seeing a post in a competition, where someone simply stated "I vote for *****". That post recivied 2 rep, double what I recieved for my thread. I am not saying that I deserve rep, but instead that we as a community need to give the recognition given in areas such as the Suggestions and Tutorials to developing members, who may frequent in areas such as the LLG,

This lack of Rep in areas such as the LLG may be because most people requesting invites in that forum are 10%, unable to give rep for a thoughtful post. Higher ranked members have no reason to go into threads, as they themselves have gotten all they need from the LLGs, and moved on.

I think that this problem can be solved by either:

a) iGiver being a part of Ranking up
b) Changing the rule back to when rep could be given after 5 posts
c) Have designated community members or some incentive to have higher ranked members hand out rep when they see fit in areas such as the LLGs.



If I may have seemed a little biased towards my current position (being in need of rep), please forgive me. This post is not simply a suggestion to benefit me, but the countless other members that have recently joined TI.

I know how you feel. Ranking up when I was first 10% was a real pain. I quite often go around the low level thanking giveaways when I feel it is deserved.

Maybe an alternative is they change settings so that when you get an iGiver you get say 5-10 Rep ?

Dunno how you could work something like that in though...

That is honestly a brilliant idea, but I don't know how that might work out. But the Admins are smart cookies, they'll find a solution hopefully. Thanks for commenting!

Good idea. Getting reputation when you are 10% is really hard. Also good solution of this problem is to give ability of clicking "thank you" for 10% users. If they could thank others, others would probably thank them more often...

please that would really be a boon.my condition is the worst...i gave short answers in posts and i got negative repped by 16 points...OMG i accept my fault but now no one gives me invite in mid level telling i have red rep and no one is asking for invites though i am giving ipt and freshon...i tried hard in open tracker section..posted around 20 open trackers...only the number of views went up but no one is repping...literally speaking i am doomed...i tried the competition section as well...but the current competition cipher is unbreakable.i broke my head over it for one full day..i even changed my signature but no hope...a thanks option for all members would be a boon..i even tried the shoutbox...lol no reply so far .please admins and mod do something...please
my opinion would be atleast to give rep to all participants in competition or for members who start a thread in give away section

1.REP. is not suppose to be given out on giveaways ...It's the contribution mainly for help section etc.

a.I don't think making Igiver a part of rank-up is a good idea...even hummingbird got 0 igiver's..lol...j/k.....

Isn't you need just 20rep's to reach any rank here...??? i thought it's toooo easy to get them...

Well m8 now slowly slowly you will get recognize and you will start getting rep's...See I have seen you contributing around but cannot rep. you cause it was not specific help but now that I have this in mind ..I will rep. you as soon as you will do something for me....So this is how the forum normally works..

it's just an example..

i contributed in open section but the point to be noted is that only beginners in this forum will want trackers which have open signups....most of the 33 percent members would be already a member of all these trackers....so there is no way one can get rep by posting in open trackers section though it is helping the new members a lot but i am not even getting a rep for all this work....the activity is also less in open tracker section compared to other sections.so i am losing interest in posting in open tracker section and helping the junior members....but still i ll continue having the faith that one day i ll be rewarded...i am a member of low level trackers only and i dont find anyway by which i can people like you who have 99 percent....the max i have is torrentleech....

Mate, Torrent Leech is one of the most popular and saught after trackers on this forum, its pretty difficult to complain about that. Follow forbidden's advice, and you might make it out of your rep crisis.

On Topic, Forbidden, you have good points, but contrary to how we're not supposed to give rep for giveaways, pretty much every TL giveaway recieves rep before it even gets a post.
