    Default Intro Post Count

I have been working in the Intro section full-time from the last two days. In the process, I noticed that the posts are not counted in the total post count of a person. However, I feel that it should be reflected in the post count, because they are posts after all, and no one can spam there because we have strict Intro rules.
Also, if someone feels that new members will get a post count boost before entering the main forums of the T-I, we could have the post count disabled for the midgets in the Intro section.
And for those who feel post counts are not much important, I would like to remind that post counts are the only criteria to reach 75% or higher.

    Anyone feel the same?

nah It's good other wise all will be in intro section just for the sake of count not for the community...well I actually like places where post count is disabled..and if I am giving something out I will surely see the person's history and care abt those who do some work for comm. rather then spam for post count...and if we make the post count it will make that section more hard to post on as I have seen infections are quite easy to comeby here....

i agree with smack, sirs. xD
we should have some kind of a "bonus" system or whatever in the part of the forum. may that be post counts or + points (rep?). the thing is, intro section has some hardcore rules, you can´t post there unnoticed stuff. when it seems to you that all the post from "our" end (meaning intro checkers) are basically the same, you are not considering the fact, that EVERY INTRO IS READ WORD BY WORD and the reply is unique to each applicant.

    EDITED**
if i did the search right, there are more then 50 new applicants (thread created TODAY) waiting for a response. maybe after the change we would have more intro people checking those "midgets" and the intro people (mods) would have time to watch prOn. xDD
respect or buiacka to the intro people, that´s what ALI G would say. xD

go to intro subforum, down left do the search:

Mhh.... Yeah Intro section is hard to work on...
And it has tuff rules associated with dealing the section, and posting there!!!

But I think, in place counting the post there, there should be some bonus be given other way round like, if a user Rep in a newbie and he(newbie) succeds to pass certain grace period successfully..... The invitee be given some reputation!!!

That will be better off in terms of promoting users working in Intro thread!!!

The subject of rewarding members for working in the intro section has been discussed before and it was rejected. Allowing post counts in the intro section will only promote members to post in there to achieve the next rank, and in such we would loose the standard we worked so hard to set in there.

With regards to rep being given to users who work the intro's again, that was discussed and rejected. People work the intro section because they want to, no-one is forcing anyone to help out in there. There are plenty of other sub sections in which to increase your post count and your rep.

As far as I'm concerned I'm not keen on the idea and I would prefer it be left the way it is.

I don't think it is possible to disable midget's post count and not ours (existing members) in the introduction section. Either the whole section gets no post count or vice versa.

If post count is enabled, there will definitely be people who post there just the sake of posting, or even worse, repping in a midget incorrectly. This just creates more trouble really. As TankGirl said, nobody is forced to work there, intro workers spend their time helping out for the greater of good of T-I (corny).

If flutrose and hummingbird isn't complaining, I don't think anyone should. Oh yes, kudos to those working hard in the intro..

This thread caught my eye well for one because it has to do with the intro section. First of all just like it was mentioned before this topic was brought up in the past and yes it was squashed because of many reasons.
    1. All the people that work in the introduction section are volunteers that devote their time to wanting to help all new potential members. They learn the rules of the site, the rules in the introduction section

    2. You can get a rep through the introduction section if someone feels you have deserved it greatly. You can give that person a thanks in a particular post in the introduction if you want to.

    3. If it were to be allowed for post to count in the introduction then more people would be prone to spam in that section just because they know that the posts are counting.

Ever since I could remember starting working in the intro section I met alot of dedicated people in that section that knew that the posts did not count and still daily I would see them working in there spending many hours and all to help TI an nothing else.

Now let me ask you this you guys if you want to be rewarded for the person you rep in doing good are you prepared to take an infraction or negative rep if your person gets banned? Even though they did everything correctly in the introduction section? Dont you think it should go both ways if you want a reward for doing the good then expect a consequence for them doing bad?

So far right now I find it that 55% for introduction workers is good because I have not seen too many people lower than that try to work in the introduction section.

You can't always expect to be rewarded for something that your volunteering for because it just does not happen that way. Rewards do come within time. I can give you 9 examples of people that have worked hard and have not expected anything in return and have been rewarded recently.

TankGirl, Forza, Freedom, Jenna, Flutrose, Bridskid, DantheMan and myself. 6 of us were given the opportunity to become intro mods to help the introduction flow, TankGirl and Jenna were promoted in their staff positions for working hard on the site, and DTM was promoted to Exalted for his generosity and hard work.

In closing we all appreciate all the hard work that people put into the introduction section to ensure that we have the best community. Safe from scammers and also that the introduction section is free from SPAM. I think intro is great the way it is full of people willing to devote their time. Plus it was said before quite nicely there are many more places where posts do count that can be worked on.

After reading the comments from TankGirl and hummingbird, I certainly got my mind changed. I now realize that the greed of post count could allow certain evil members to get repped in by members who have no idea about the Intro rules. So yeah, I do feel its better, the way it is.

But please don't construe my recent activity in the Intro section to be motivated by the greed of post count, I just wanted to contribute to T-I. So be rest assured of my future dedication to the Intro section. :001_smile:
