useing irc to recive profile links and other sensitive stuff that already happens, for a full introduction my only gripe would be that irc would have to be manned 24/7 and I know a lot of prospective s ain't going to wait around, I personally don't use irc because most of the time its just a cussing match. so I agree we need profile links for all new members and a safe way to get them, I prefer the present form interview it has a few problems but it lets other members see whats a coming.
I think it's a good idea. I waited days for someone to review my intro and then another day for me to answer questions and another day them to get back to me. I think an IRC channel for this would perhaps speed along the process and maybe make it harder for people to copy other people's intro answers. Maybe have a couple of staff members assigned to the channel? People that review intros. Just a suggestion.
It's great to get a few people into IRC and chat with them one on one vs. to have to post back and forth over several days. I would have to say this is easily a double edged sword. You did suggest only for specific questions like profile links, and asking whether or not they would trade. I think it would be great to sift through people more quickly but we need to take care of our introductions and one major problem would be the proof. The reason for everything in a neat forum is so people can reference back bad users to whoever repped them in. If you take that aspect away and say i checked him out in IRC as your defense it won't be a great alibi. I don't know about you but I don't save my IRC logs unless something deserves to be up in the mocking block.
It speeds up the process to ask questions in real time but again it's nice how the introductions are handled right now in my opinion.
Retired and happy :)
Ahh the dreaded papertrail that makes sense to me, shame, but its easily recognizable as a necessity.

see the one thing that I dont agree with is why would we make a whole new IRC room since already like 95% of the people that go into the Help channel is already Intro people and there we already help them when we are present. And I do agree with others that some people already have a hard time joining our Help room as it is and by adding a 3rd room only creates more places for the mods and staff to get pulled to and have to watch. The help room is a 1 stop shop for any help that is needed and like I said 95% of the help requested is from the Intro section anyways. But that is just my opinion
Countdown to CHRISTMAS 6 Days
Countdown to New Years 2012 13 Days
So many holidays so little time and money LOL
So that is what I am saying.. help IRC have some rules like no idealing and all so sometime when you are talking in private it cause problem there As we cannot take profile link in open...so here is my full idea:
1.We can have a Intro IRC just a click away..means no passkey nothing. But only those who are in intro team adn are really trusted must be allowed as we will have a lot of sensitive data in there.
2. Let newbie make a intro and come to IRC..then as soon as he come he will give a link to his intro then mod can check the intro.'s and say him to correct if there are any mistakes..if not we can go with our normal questions and answers...
It will make it a little fast as I have seen many newbie don't bother bumping there thread adn will leave hope of joining..So it will increase the traffic..

I tend to agree with freedom, I don't see so much pros in irc approach, and if we'd like to check profile links (which would be a good addition to introduction process, provided that we really want to make the effort to keep potentially bad members out) then I think that could be done trough PM rather then trough irc.
The main pro for irc is it could be quicker, but on the other hand some of us who work in intro section might not have the time to stick around in intro waiting for the other side to reply and that's way current system is much more convenient, plus like someone already said, that means that other members can check on that particular intro as well and we have that intro stored in processed section permanently for future reference, eg. some people actually like to go trough persons intro when deciding whether they should trust that person with an invite.
If you're on the other hand suggesting that we should have both current system with addition of irc part, I think that would be an overkill and pointless waste of everyone's time.
EDIT: As I see now you are clearly suggesting this second option, so as I said I personally think it would be an overkill...
@ren
I wouldn't want to sound rude or anything, but if new members read the rules carefully and did everything according to rules in first try they wouldn't have to wait so long, and I think that it's not fair from you to say that you've "wasted days" while you're forgetting that somebody is spending his or hers time to lead new members trough introduction process only because majority of people is to lazy to read the rules and do your intro right first time.
EDIT: Your intro wasn't that bad actually, besides the fact that you're apparently in torrent world some two or three years more then bitTorrent protocol itself exists it was decent. But still, you had to wait only one day and not days as you said. Now please take a look at the number of new introductions that have to be processed every day and bare in mind the fact that people who work in intro do so only to help new members, they gain nothing from it (even the posts don't count in there) and I think a little bit of patience never hurt anyone.

Yeah, unfortunately there's a good reason why that's so, to prevent those few new members who'd try to take the advantage of being able to send PM's by spamming other members' inbox, and that unfortunately means that we currently can't check profile links trough PM.
There's nothing wrong in having a new idea and presenting it to other members, on contrary it's commendable to see that you're thinking about how to improve T-I. Now, whether or not will staff agree with your idea and decide to try to implement it, well, that's up to them.Well I wonder if I should not have suggested it I guess I am in lot of trouble..loL
