Thread: Rating Introductions - Help the staff out!

It's no secret that this site is a lot of work, so this suggestion is to everyone that works the introduction section;

Obviously if you work intro's you know how many there are every day. That's a lot of sorting that has to be done to put them in the approved and rejected forums.



Help staff out by rating your completed introductions. If you rep someone in, rate that thread a 5. If you reject them, rate it a 0.

That way, from the Introduction forum, whoever is sorting the topics can clearly see which are completed and where they should go.

Just because we aren't staff doesn't mean we can't make the site run a little more smoothly in small ways.

This rating thing is bugged. For example, many times I'll click on it and it will say that I've already rated that thread - and no, I know I haven't rated it. So why is it saying I've already rated it?

I don't know, but even if it works half the time, that's still a lot of help for sorting

I'm sorry and I don't mean to sound like I'm shooting down what some folks think is a wonderful idea - but the reality is, the Rate This Thread is broken. I just read a thread that had been rated 5, and showed the lovely yellow bar. And it had two pages of answers too. Problem is - it hadn't been repped in yet! It also said I had repped that thread and I had never read it before.

With all due respect, do you really want our mods relying on a broken mechanism to decide whether or not an introduction gets moved? I know I don't. If I had relied on this idea that particular intro would have been put into my mental Ignore pile. And if everyone was using this idea, that Intro wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting repped in because everyone would see the erroneous yellow bar and move on to something else.

I have not noticed anything broken with the tool whatsoever.

I honestly believe that the only flaw is that midgets can rate their own threads. That's something that I brought up with a mod from the beginning when I was discussing this idea with them and they said they would investigate, and then thanked me for this suggestion.

You do a ton of work in the intros flutrose so your feedback is highly valued, but I haven't had any cases of the tool being broken, and if it is, it needs fixing regardless of this suggestion.

However, the suggestion is still *in my mind* a very helpful one.

I don't think any of our mods, especially those who routinely sort the intro section (JJ, Signus, etc), would rely 100% on the rating. It's simply a visual aid to show them "hey, that thread might be worth checking"

I'm also noticing a lot of of the intros have a rating of 5 which haven't been reped in, there are also treads that I haven't rated but the system says I have. nice idea but doesn't seem to work.
