Here is my idea. I currently have a jailbroken iPhone that I love. I am sure many other people here do or at least have some sort of smartphone. I know it would prob be a lot of work, but what if the site was formatted also for mobile browsers? Better yet a possible iPhone application (on the Jailbroken phones of course, Rock/Cydia because im sure Apple would have a problem) that would let the user read/respond/reply to posts.

I know this may be a little far fetched, I just know that many people...myself included, use their internet capable phone everyday for everything, why not be able to have instant access to here? :)

I have a coding background but have never done anything for the web nor the iPhone but would be willing to contribute if someone out there had a direction and time.

I'm wondering how this would work for people who are IP banned - I was under the impression smart phones didn't have static IPs

Need help? PM me and I'll find you the answer.

Great idea if someone can be f&%^ed doing it. I use T-I on my phone every now n then it would be far better if it were formatted for iPhone, not that I can see anyone doing it but still...

People can always get around IP bans with proxies, etc. I don't think smartphones having dynamic IP's should be a reason not to do it.

I do believe there is an iPhone vBulletin theme.

    iPod-Hacking.com's mobile skin - vBulletin.org Forum

So basically you have to install the theme, and a small mod to change themes for any mobile device. Pretttty easy lol.

So it sounds like it isn't practical for something like this to be implemented by T-I, and more practical for the user to do some modification to their device. That makes sense. If there is going to be something to be done I am down to help :).

I use my BlackBerry all the time to access the site. It's a somewhat stripped-down version of the site, but it works just fine. Is this not the same on the iPhone?

I tried it for the iPhone through the safari browser and it looks as if it is the same site for a full browser. Can anyone else confirm this?

Wrong, actually. It's basically a theme, for TI to upload to their site and make a few modifications for it to work. The title may deceive you, it's a theme file for vBulletin. Nothing is required to happen to the phone.

You're talking about the SEO version of the website, archive (Link: http://www.torrent-invites.com/archive/index.php/) The reason it doesn't work for the iPhone/iPod touch is because it uses a safari useragent. So it would think it was a "real" computer and web browser, so it shows the real site. If your a blackberry, it uses a useragent that will identify itself as a mobile device and show the archive version.

Confirmed on my iPod touch, 1G + 3G. Read above, also.

Sorry if I confused anyone, I can't proof read this right now.

Sorry to disappoint, but no. Using my default BlackBerry browser I get an experience very similar to when I use my computer at home. The drop-down menus don't work, and it's a little bit more difficult to give rep; other than that, it's very similar.

Can you install Bolt Browser on an iPhone? It works quite well.
