This was actually my original idea for solving this problem. TankGirl and I discussed it and decided that it might be a bit hard to keep updated. With the tagging system, multiple people can use the tags; otherwise one person would be required to keep all the suggestions updated.

People would not have to tag their individual suggestions. Instead, a (for lack of a better term) Suggestion Tagger would review the suggestion, slap a [xxzyTIDiscussion] tag on it and wait. Later down the line, we add a new tag - say [xxzyStaffDiscussion] - for when the Staff have picked up the suggestion. I'm using the term "tag" incorrectly here. For my purposes, I am not talking about the tags at the bottom of the post - "suggestions, system, ticket." I'm talking about adding a specific, searchable phrase in a reply to the thread itself.



Presumably, anyone could add a tag to their suggestion, but we would ask that suggestions be tagged appropriately. Suggestions that are not properly tagged would be reported to a mod for editing.

I am always willing to listen to new ideas; frequently I take what others have said, add a bit of my ideas to it, and come out with a completely new - and greater - idea. Fahim has pointed out some problems - people could easily abuse this system. How can we do this better?

AfterMidnight, perhaps we could come up with a full mock up of what people would see i.e the menu etc and perhaps we could link a couple of suggestion examples to it to show how it works. It may give everybody a better picture of what we are aiming to do/achieve here.

I'd like to give everyone a better idea of what we want to achieve, but it turns out what I want to do isn't possible. The search function just isn't designed to do what I want it to do. So, we're back to using the system fahim suggested, which was my original idea anyway. Does anyone have a better idea?

At first I want to say, I am sorry that I was trying to steal TG & AM idea. Basically I didn't read the first page with concentration.
Anyway back to the topic, yes, I would like to see a mock-thread or sample-thread so user here can see what we are thinking and will give good ground for broader acceptance.
