Thread: Major Flaw with Torrent Invites

Ok I tried searching the forums and havent seen this brought up before.

Isn't it a major flaw of this site that some people who are doing giveaways ask for profile links?? That means that they know what your username is, and can potentially ban you if they are a tracker admin pretending to be a user of the site.

I know its such a big deal when doing ratio proofs that the username, date, ratio etc.. be hidden, but this is all pointless if someone asks for a profile link, they now have all your info and can ban you at will.

What are everyones thoughts on this?

This is asked,cause we want to make sure,we invite the right person.If you don't trust the inviter,why should he trust you?

Let's explain a bit more - we are a community based on trust and there are many cheaters around,that if we invite one,we might loose our account as well.
And if you have participated at tracker recruitments and irc interviews the guys always ask for profile links,just to make sure you're not showing someone elses' proof.

If you fear and think,that a certain user is an admin from let's say the private tracker A,I suggest you pm our mods and admins about it.But you should have solid evidence.Or just don't participate at the giveaway.

The main reason profile links are requested is that they expose people who supplied fake ratio proofs when they requested an invite. And trust is a two-way street; if someone is unwilling to give me their profile link then why should I entrust them with an invite? Cause they can get me banned just because I invited them. So if they want me to trust them with an invite then they'd better be willing to trust me with their info.
