Thread: Introduction Suggestion

It is very easy for anyone with basic computer knowledge to fake his/her ratio on any tracker. All it takes is 5 minutes on any photo editing software like MS Paint or Photoshop and you can make your self a hero by changing your ratio from 0.001 to something like 88.432

Here is a quick example:

Fake Ratio: All the numbers you see are fake!

The suggestion I want to make is that before repping in any new member we should ask for profile links (in a PM) for the trackers listed in the introduction thread. This way, we can be sure that ratio proofs are correct and the person joining the T-I community is going to contribute to it instead of just taking.

I hope this suggestion makes sense to you.

The logistics problems are that the PM system is disabled for accounts that haven't been repped in, and profile links can be seen only by members of that particular tracker who can log in to view them. Not to mention the CSS hack that trackers are using making going to their site from here dangerous.

I agree with you ... but there's few problem that we are facing like flutrose mentioned, but I believe we can work it out .

Well i don't think the pm would work as one person is just going to get overloaded with pms. trying to think of a method that would work is kinda hard. Right now is any 33% member can rep in a person, and to be honest if i was applying i wouldn't want just anyone that can make 50 posts to view my profile links so the current system would be out.

It would have to be a set number of trusted people to handle the intros and them only, and then making sure those of them had accounts on majority of trackers that people app with.

Its sounds like a fgreat idea but when you boil it down, like flutrose said "logistics"

I agree with you guys, maybe the best thing to do is to request profile links only if you have account on the same private tracker, and to avoid CSS HACK, we should always use a different browser to validate the profile (This is what I would do if I'm to rep someone into T-I)

That is probably the biggest concern of all. Thanks for pointing it out Corynn.

Is there any dangers associated with one showing there profile links.
I mean if you unintentionally show a potential scammer your profile links can they use it to screw you.

I think the main concern is getting the publicly visible on a forum like T-I in case a mod at a tracker sees it.

Well, yes. But if I'm to to rep someone into T-I, I also risk getting banned because of it if the guy I repped in is a cheater.

I wasn't suggesting that we should put profile links in the introduction thread, but rather sending it as PM to the person who wants to rep you in (only when he asks for it)
