Before I start - No offence is meant to anybody, and I am not trying to create an us and them thing, this is just simply an idea....



It would seem that a lot of people are buying VIP status, and I would like to suggest that those members that received their VIP status through member of the month get a different VIP "badge". At the moment all the VIP's avatar thingy's look the same, these guys' and gal's earnt their VIP through commitment to the site and I think they deserve to be recognised visually. I know who has been here a while, and I know who I can turn to if i need help, but we seem to be losing these peeps in a mass of gold.

I'm not trying to get on my high horse or anything, hell I bought my VIP (mainly coz I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and what was behind door number 2) but I truly believe these peeps should have something they call "their own". It also gives other members something to strive for.

(Yes I would love to be member of the month, no this is not a hint because I don't deserve it yet)

We were just talking about this, its good to see people are on the same page around here. Someone brought up the issue of a trusted section in the VIP and two separate VIP classes.

I think one of the main reasons for MOTM is to bring good members into the vip section and help it grow and thrive, so I don't know about a different section as all the VIP's who matter would just post in the trusted vip section and the normal vip section would die, so I don't know whether it would be that helpful.

A different badge is something I think would be good, but not make it only for MOTM, have it so that standard VIP's can earn it and MOTM automatically qualifies.

VIP Member = Donation.
VIP Elite = Donation + 500 Posts + 1000 Rep points + 40 Igivers. (MOTM automatically qualify)

The requirements are just a suggestion, could make them higher/lower if you want. But I know what you mean TG, it would be good to have easily distinguishable trusted vip's and normal vip's.

Also, I'm not entirely opposed to a trusted section in the VIP either, it would give people a chance to talk about vip g/a's, etc, with little chance of scammers, etc in the mix. Also, it would give VIP's something to strive for thereby having more g/a's, more useful posts, etc.

1000 rep points: its too many to me. This would be very hard who is not the member of all torrent sites and don't want to be as well.
Also now a days torrent sites have to exceptional when you consider 422 days usenet binary retention.

I'm not so sure that having a "trusted" or "elite" vip section is such a good idea, though I'm not totally opposed to it either. People may have a vip tag but we can tell who is using it to try to get invites compared to those that wanted to give financial help to the community, because they're the people who also contribute in other ways.

Having a distinctive badge for those honored with MOTM would be great! It should be a lifetime designation too. But I do think everyone should be eligible for MOTM, not just those who aren't vip. Why should a vip be eliminated from the possibility of such an honor just because they were generous and donated?
