I definitely can see the rational behind wanting to require some form of activity threshold - however, this threshold is very dependent on a number of factors - and there are plenty of good explanations as to why a user does not upload 5 gigs in the first 3 weeks (the biggest of which is that they can't due to caps or rates).

Some trackers lend themselves more to this than others - I definitely see this as being easy to hit at an HD Tracker, but much harder at a place like waffles - since the torrent size is so much smaller.

Which is why it is up to you to look into the user when giving an invite away. If they have 3 pages of iGiver that they received, and are only giving 3 proofs - that rings collector to me, and I ask for proofs from a number of random other trackers they have for verification of activity.

It is not our or the mods jobs to police how users choose to use their accounts once given an invite, as long as their actions do not make the inviter (or invitees) lose their accounts. Inactivity happens, and most trackers tend to prune the account to make room, but I have not seen trackers punish inviters for inactivity beyond the waste of that invite. If it becomes an issue for a particular account - definitely bring it to staff's attention; otherwise, I am in agreement with most of the rest of the people in this thread.

Also if there is a particular tracker that you invite people who generally are inactive, and are worried you will lose your account due to your invitees being inactive, then you may want to stop inviting people here to that site. Otherwise, I don;t think there can be, or should be, much else action taken.

Airman eloquently said everything I was thinking. +Rep for him.

One other point though would be the logistics of trying to keep track of what would quickly become a snarled up mess. It would be a full time job at the very least to do nothing but enter upload stats into whatever database was used to store and tabulate them.

Also, this idea probably reaches far beyond what our founders envisioned when they started this site. Somehow I don't imagine that they ever entertained the thought of becoming "responsible" for monitoring our trackers to such a minute degree.

5GB is 3 weeks isn't exactly the easiest thing to do for people with slow internet connection. I've had IPT(a easily seedable tracker) for about 2 weeks now and still only manage to upload only about 2-3 gig. Now imagine how I'll do on a tracker that's actually hard to seed like TL, 2 weeks there and only manage to upload 2 through lots of cross seeding. My point is that by imposing a 5gb minimum you're ruling out slower connected people from high level trackers.

ROFL!! people who take 2 weeks to upload 2-3 gig to IPT shouldn't be on higher level trackers in the first place.

It got too complicated in vip as well. If people say "Please!! this is my dream tracker! I want it for this, this, this and this." then never use the thing, just neg igiver them =)

The only time I think that this should be an issue is when a user puts up a request thread for a specific tracker, you kindly fill that users request after they promise you they will use it, then make their account and never log into the tracker again yet continue to apply for every other tracker under the sun.

Yes this has happened to me and after I questioned the user about why he never used the tracker he requested he got abusive back. It's more so annoyting if it was an invite that you donated to the tracker for and it could've gone to a better user.
Maybe after fulfilling a request thread you could post back in a thread saying yes your invitee is using the account or no they haven't used it. This would apply to requests only, normal low level GA's don't really matter.

This is neither plausible nor possible. As such, the thread is closed.
