What about a Political and Social Sub-Forum
I think it would be nice to have so that we can talk about the issues that plague the world today. Everyday, there is always a new headline.
That is always a very heated type of forum. Very easy to get pissed off at someone even though its supposed to be a civil debate. Usually ends up in a flame war. I don't know if that's something we exactly need here.
Sorry but I'm with Myllz on this one. There's enough excitement in the intro's for the Mods to deal with.

We're a global society. I think that introducing forums for politics and societal issues is like playing with gunfire. It's too easy for people to become emotional about these things. I think we should focus on torrenting.

+1 on Flutrose,Tankgirl and Myllz. Sometimes politics tend to bring out the worst sides in you and I actually think some discussions can lead to good and trustful members of this community being banned because they simply crossed the line, just because of politics. I've seen this at some trackerforums/forums, especially when a debate about immigration pops up at swebits I've seen a couple of members being banned. We should be tight and united here on T-I and politics-forum would split some of us up. Sorry, not with you on this one.
It would cause tension amongst members who may have been friends prior to a 'disagreement'.
Definitely a bad idea.
I second that.Actually there are many threads in the general forum,where we are discussing political and religious subjects(the Barack Obama thread,Do you believe in God....so on).If you want you can create a political or social or religious thread there,but be carefull,cause the discussion can get out of control pretty easily.Originally Posted by flutrose
I understand why you would not want that in here. Guys usually enter such a forum with the notion that they are right and omniscient. Personally, i just love keeping up and discussing with such events. I appreciate your feedback and points well taken.
political forums are by far the largest flamewar forums and that applys to any type of communitys i have been in like gaming,movie and even this dog kennel community i was in, there is this thing about politics that just pisses som people off, there are also those who cant explain themself properly on a forum but still want to participate and instead starts to insult.
As much as I love to talk politics and would love to see a politics sub-forum I am inclined to agree with everyone else that flame wars and arguments can erupt from it. If we were to implement a politics sub-forum it would have to be HEAVILY moderated with dedicated mods specifically for the section.
