I've been here less than a month and occasionally have had wonderful members give me some reputation points (do not panic they have been positive).

I too give good reputation out fairly regularly to those that have earned it. My only quarrel is that sometimes I would love to know who that anonymous doner was.

I see people get around this by putting their name with a dash in the comments box but that takes up space from your explanation of gratitude. :001_smile:

Not like thanks were you can put a name to a face maybe something similar for reputation points.

...ignore my signature this time. I think I will be doing the rep increases in this thread

Well you're obviously doing something right. good for you and keep up the good work. As far as repping being anonymous I think that its to prevent repetitive positve and or negative repping. but thats just my take on it.

Why would it prevent repetitive repping?

Well, like i said this is just my take on it, but say you knew who negative repped you. You could turn around and neg rep them for neg repping you. The same could apply for positive rep. You positive rep me, then to thank you, I find a reason to positve rep you.
This is ofcourse just my opinion. I'm sure a mod will post here to give you their reasons for it being anonymous.

    Think you just did mate

Makes sense now. Guess sticking with putting your name in the comment field will have to do.

I think I've seen mentioned somewhere that VIPs have access to see who repped them. So it is possible and easy to code into the system. But, zafo hit the nail on the head - withholding the name is mostly to prevent negative repping in retaliation.

I do what you mentioned and what most other users do - I put my username when I rep people. That way you can have the anonymity if you chose to, or you can put a name to your sentiment to help back it up.

lmao, I was just about to say that everyone can see who gave them rep! but as airman pointed out, only VIPs can see that! I didn't know! XD I just though everyone could see who repped them haha! oh well, you learn something new every day.

I don't think VIPs can see if anyone neg reps them though, but I could be wrong. I don't think I have ever been neg repped before:) I suppose there is always time lmao!

Anyway, back on topic: If you want to see who gave you those lovely rep points, I suppose you could just donate to recieve VIP or win MOTM.

p.s. thanks for pointing the VIP thing out airman, I really didn't know that! And I call my self a VIP lmao!
