Dears,

What if at introduction forum, the script will always show member candidate's IP Address together with its reverse DNS address?



Currently I would never know whether this new member candidate , admitting living on UK, for example, and uses UK ISP for speedtest... Is he telling the truth or not? I dont know where his IP addr coming from.

We can also easily identify proxy... or revolver repetition sign up based on it. Well they can't just change IP without limit.. can they?

I dont think its a very good idea this information to be available to everyone. To admins yes, but i wouldnt like my IP to be available to every T-I member. Its even a greater security risk than posting an unedited ratio proof.

Besides if someone uses a proxy this wont help you much. If they dont and post a copied speedtest, you may simply ask them to post another one, they wont be able to google a similar speedtest.

I think that would violate a member's privacy really...
Since you'll be able to tell what town they live in, isn't that kind of stalker-like?

And you can change your IP if you have patience. I can do a DHCP release and wait like 4 minutes to get a new one. And that one shows up like 2,000 miles away from where I actually live until my ISP fixes it.

There might be a limit to IP changes.. but it's pry in the houndreds.

Umm, do you mean show their IP address for all to see? I don't think that's such a good idea as tracker staff can easily view them and locate users on their trackers and ban/disable them.

Though i would like this for the reasons u mentioned, i dont think this would be a good idea for security reasons. Thats putting private info right out in the open for everyone to see. Trackers could tie your ip address back to your real member name and that could be bad. Thats not even counting what other people would do with your ip. Maybe it could be hidden so only staff or trusted members could see it or something. I think that may be the case anyway. Not 100% sure though.
