Thread: T-I Radio Station

In my old days of P2P on winmx the room i used to be a part of used to run a radio station where selected DJ's would run it throughout the week. We wouldnt have it running 24/7 but we would particularly try to run it often on the weekends, we had microphones and recorded interviews and sometimes even ran Requests, Shoutouts, it was just something fun that people joined in on. Thought it would be fun and upbeat especially because I have noticed in the music section that there are so many kinds of music people like out there. During the different Holidays we would run music appropriate for that holiday. Just thought it would be something fun any maybe even some members could be DJ's and share the music they have.

I don't know how to go about setting this up, but you sound like you have some experience doing it. It sounds like it could be very fun, and a way for the community to expand beyond the forum and irc. I think it would have a similar problem as irc where only a fraction of the community would participate, but that's no reason not to do it since those that do participate will enjoy it.

I was actually just reading about some nice linux software to broadcast to a radio feed for live shows. Used to do some DJing on the net myself a few years ago for a chat community, wasn't anything huge maybe 300 listeners but it was fun. I'd second the radio station, the software I was lookngi at even has an xchat plugin to post info on the irc chat.

This sounds pretty cool. What about the legal side of things? I read something recently about a shit load of internet radio stations being shut down due to some kind of ownership rights or something.

From what I have heard from a friend doing this sort of thing right now you can get legal broadcasting rights fairly cheap and so long as you make sure all the songs played are tagged properly nothing is really done about the broadcasting.

This is a great idea hummingbird. I belong to a gaming community that has a radio station like this and it's very popular. You could also include little news snippets about whats happening in the world of torrenting, like upcoming open invites, free leeches, that sort of thing.

Great idea. If we got this up and going I wouldn't mind DJing every now and then, dunno if you guys would want to listen to me talk shit about everything but why not.

see the problem with this is you are all saying great idea,
but if I actually set it up and it turns out like 5 people are
interested in it, it would have been quite a waste :|.
